Off-time

I had some off-time with Juliane since she didn't go to Penang with Marieann and I.
We went to watch Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald (Marieann didn't go with us as she has already seen it with her friends.) We had a late lunch at Muji cafe after the fantastic movie.

Respite from PSLE

Making use of the weekend in between the PSLE papers, we three head down to have a little pampering of sorts, if you count, having a haircut as pampering lol.
After our haircut at a neighbourhood shop, Marieann refused to take the photo
My "straight" hair, wondering how long it would last before the natural curls come back

Time Forgotten Places in Singapore

How many of you know about the existence of a Hakka Cemetery (Ying Fo Fui Kun) in central Singapore, namely in the Commonwealth/ Queenstown area?
I suspect not many Singaporeans know about it, even some of the Commonwealth/ Queenstown residents unless they happened to live nearby the cemetery.
I came across this time forgotten place by accident some time back, during the Ghost month (7th lunar month) actually. Personally, I don't find cemeteries creepy. In fact, I feel cemeteries serene, peaceful and full of history. With Ying Fo Fui Kun being the oldest Hakka clan association, there is plenty of heritage for Singaporeans to learn, and for a whole generation of younger Hakkas to discover as well as for the older generation of Hakkas to reconnect.
What is the story behind Ying Fo Mansion and its swimming pool?

12/12/12, 12:12:12

12/12/12, 12:12:12 is a very unique date and time which we will not see in this life time again, not for another hundred years. The next 12/12/12, 12:12:12 will be in 2112.

Parent-Child Time.

There was no counselling today as the school is having CA1 this week. In place of counselling, I went out with my parents. It was really nice doing things with my parents. It has been ages since I last did something with my parents, even if it was just going to Tiong Bahru market to have lunch and buy lunch back for my girls. :)

11.11, 11.11.11

You only see this once in a hundred years. I was updating the weather on my phone when it was the above time. It is pretty amazing to see it as it happened. :)

"Early Bird" needs more Sleep!

My domestic helper knocked on my door in the morning and I woke the girls up for school. I was surprised that my alarm didn't go off at 6am. I was still feeling dead tired as I only slept at 2am. 5 minutes later, Marieann noticed that other households were still in darkness and it was very quiet. She saw the time on the clock. It was only 5.05am!
No wonder, my alarm didn't go off. I shoo-ed the girls back to bed for at least another 50 minutes of shut eye.
"Rrring, Rrring, Rrring"
It is really 6am. Time to wake up.

142 Days To...

PSLE. That's what my P6 counsellees told me when I had counselling with them today. Their teachers have started the countdown to PSLE with them. Some counsellees are beginning to feel the pressure while some are still indifferent citing that it is still some time away. I encouraged them to start revision as soon as they can as time does creep up on us without warning.

What's Next?

With my dissertation completed and awaiting comments from my supervisors, I suddenly find I have lots of time on my hand. I guess it is time to write those papers which I promised to do so with my former PI, maybe try my hand at writing a paper on my own, and there is a book chapter in the pipeline too. :)

Looks like I may not have all that much free time hahaha, not that I mind. :)
