PSLE 2016 Results

The PSLE 2016 results are out! Even though this is my second child who has gone through PSLE, it does NOT get any easier. I feel so anxious and it feels like I am the one collecting the results!
Juliane's PSLE results finally

Phew. Juliane has enough to get back to SCGS but I think she can do better.

Double Rainbow

Last Friday, on my way home on the bus, I happened to see double rainbows appearing across the sky in a perfect arc!

I couldn't help smiling. Seeing the double rainbow is a symbol of transformation and a sign of good fortune. I hope this is a good omen for Juliane's PSLE Chinese and Science this coming week! :)

Respite from PSLE

Making use of the weekend in between the PSLE papers, we three head down to have a little pampering of sorts, if you count, having a haircut as pampering lol.
After our haircut at a neighbourhood shop, Marieann refused to take the photo
My "straight" hair, wondering how long it would last before the natural curls come back

SCGS Parents' Briefing 2016

I was at SCGS's P5 & P6 Parents' Briefing 2016 this morning. It started at 8am and was followed by Form and Co-Form Teachers's Address, Science and Chinese Language Workshops. It ended just after 12:30pm.
Juliane followed me to school and managed to finish her homework when I was attending the Parents' briefing. I made her sit in at the workshops at the suggestion of my former SCGS colleague who is now HOD haha. It makes good sense, Juliane will be the one going through PSLE so it will help her to understand what's required of her. It was also good practice for her to take notes during the workshops. :)
For today, I am really happy to be a parent and put down my hat of an educator.

PSLE Marking

This week is PSLE Marking, 19 - 22 October 2015. Plenty of children out with their parents, some look very young, not Primary 6 students definitely. Hmm, shouldn't they be at home revising for their examinations?

Good Luck for PSLE 2015

I see my P6 counsellees for the last time today before their PSLE starts tomorrow.

Open House

For me, "open house" usually means a house/ apartment, which is for sale or rent, is available for inspection by prospective clients or a party at someone's home which is open to visitors. Today, "open house" means visiting a school that has opened its doors to the public for visits and observations. Today is the first time I visited a school's open house. In fact, there were a  number of secondary schools' open houses happening all over the island just for today. Their open houses are timely as it is one day after the PSLE Results day. There are plenty of factors to consider when making the selection of secondary schools. It is often best when you can see for yourself when the secondary schools offer before you make your selection of schools.
We only made it to one secondary school's open house. :P

PSLE Results 2014 Release Day

From 11am onwards, 42,336 P6 students (and their parents) were at their respective primary schools to collect their PSLE result slip. I was at SCGS just after 11am as I was engrossed in my work until 10:30am so I missed a bit of the principal's speech. Oops :P
There was no crying, no disappointment, no anger with Marieann's results as they were within my expectations. Being the educator and educational researcher, I have some pretty hard choices to make, together with Marieann of course. Wish us luck.

Cases to Close

Today I met my P6 counsellees for the last time. It is a bitter-sweet moment as I have been their counsellor ranging from 3 years to 1 year.
I wish them all the best for their PSLE results which will be out in a month's time.

PSLE Marking Exercise 2014

The annual PSLE Marking Exercise has commenced. It started yesterday 14 October and ends on 17 October Friday. The primary school students thus have four days of "holidays". It is a good opportunity for the Primary 3 to 5 students to revise for their remaining exams. Meanwhile I hope that Marieann's papers will not be marked too harshly! :P

PSLE Science 2014

It is PSLE Science today. It is the final paper for Marieann and it is her favourite subject.
