Whenever I am in need of cat therapy, I would go over to my friend's place for tea. She has 3 cats!

TRAISI Course II

Today is the 2nd half of my 10 hour course on Self-Assessment: 5Ws ad 1H at Academy of Singapore Teachers from 2:30pm to 5:30pm. Most of the teachers were really good and have been able to implement and/or design a self-assessment strategy for future use with their students. All teachers presented and shared their strategy. Although we ended close to 6pm, all teachers were happy with the sharing. I am really happy that the teachers managed to try self-assessment or have started the process of implementing it. An additional bonus was the positive feedback which I received from the teachers! :)
Another bonus: I had the company of the AST resident cat while waiting for the heavy rain to lighten up after the end of my course.

Friendly Neighbour

I saw my neighbour as I was going to work. It recognises me now and came to the door but I couldn't stop to be friendly or I would be late for work. :(
That sad look :(

My Neighbour

This is my neighbour. He doesn't talk much but he is friendly enough to spend time interacting non-verbally with me. He belongs to the vet who has opened a vet clinic at my block.

Pet Time?

My daughters have been pestering me to adopt a cat or a kitten as a pet for the longest time. I know and experienced first hand the benefits of having a pet, having had two dogs and a cat as pets before. However, we are faced with the following challenges, starting with the simplest to the most difficult:
1. we are living on a high floor but not a problem, can get invisible grille for the windows.
2. the flat is full of breakable stuff, including my mother's antiques but can re-organise them into display cupboards or can adopt a senior cat which is less likely to jump up and down(?)
3. the girls have never looked after anything before, not sure if they will step up to the challenge or just throw the responsibility back to me or worse, to my mother (their maternal grandmother) after a while.
4. their father hates animals and has often told the girls that animals are dirty and dangerous. That is the most difficult challenge for me, an animal hater (and a potential abuser?) if we ever decide to have a pet.

Meow 2015

I love the photo of this cat - the colours and the composition. I didn't expect that it would turn out this well as the cat was actually hissing at me when I took its photo.

Rescue Mission

My friends/ colleagues launched a rescue mission late yesterday afternoon. After a meeting which ran over time grossly, they headed to the canteen to get a very late lunch, already past 4pm. On their way back to the office, they heard and saw a cat meowing pitifully at them from the roof. Somehow the ginger cat had gotten itself stuck on the roof in between the first floor and basement one.
Being cat lovers and compassionate people, they decided to help the cat. Azlina and Filzah actually climbed down onto the roof, despite certain dangers to themselves! In the end, Filzah (being a cat owner) managed to lure the cat out of its hiding place on the roof with food, grabbed it by the scruff, passed it on to Azlina who was at the stairs and released the cat safely on the first floor. The cat ran away so fast and hid in the drain. We followed it and continued to feed it though the drain cover until we ran out of food. It seemed very hungry. :( We couldn't do much more for the cat as it was past 6pm and we all had to get home.
I hope the cat will be alright. I wonder how it wandered into our campus.

Farewell, BC

Today, my friend's cat, BC passed away at 3:45pm. It is an auspicious day to leave for a better place as it is also the 15th day of the 8th lunar month, Mid Autumn Festival. The Chinese believe that only those with very good karma will leave for a better place either on the 1st or the 15th day of each lunar month. For that, I am very glad that BC left today. However, that fact alone couldn't take away the pain and grief I felt upon BC's passing. I still feel the pain and grief now.
Some would be puzzled as to why would I feel so deeply about BC, my friend's cat when I am not even his owner. I called BC my part-time cat because when his owner went away for holidays, ranging from a few days to 3 weeks, I would be taking care of BC. I would give him his medicine twice a day, feed him, change his water daily, clear his litter box twice a day, play with him and keep BC company. Most importantly, I gave BC my love and attention. BC, I am most honoured, returned the love and attention.
I am very glad that I managed to say my farewell to BC today. I was there with BC during his last moments, whispering in his ears that he has no need to worry about us, it is ok for him to go and I send my love with him to the next world. It is heart-wrenching to see BC whom I loved (and who loved me back) leave this world but I take heart that BC is now in a better place, in a England Hyde Park-like Cat Paradise chasing birds and sniffing the flowers under a blue sky dotted with candy floss like clouds and a warm sun.
Go with love and happiness, BC. Take care.

Princess Ayushka

Today, my friend and colleague, Filzah invited a whole bunch of us to her new home for housewarming. :) As we knew each other well, it was really fun to meet outside of work environment. :) The food was really good, especially the lentil soup, the crispy chicken, the stuffed tomato and the sweet rice. Oh the sparkling soda (came in a few flavours) was really nice too, which Filzah bought from a Turkish warehouse. :) Unfortunately, I was too distracted to take photos of the food and the soda by a bundle of fur. :P
I was too distracted by Filzah's kitten, Ayushka, a Nowergian Forest. Ayushka is so CUTE! She has a very good temperament and is not shy with people around. I am really glad that Ayushka likes the housewarming gift a colleague and I bought for her, a playmat for kittens/ cats. :) She was trying her hardest to get at the catnip which was in a hidden pocket on the playmat lol. I was not the only one distracted by Ayushka lol. We were all distracted and we forgot to take a group photo before we left! Lol. Here are some photos of Princess Ayushka, yes, I think she is a Princess :)
