It is my first time having a meal at Yantra, a trendy and chic fine dining Northen Indian cuisine restaurant at Tanglin Mall. Although Tanglin Mall is my neighbourhood mall, I have never been to Yantra until today. All thanks to the hosting of lunch for a visiting professor. :)
The buffet selection was quite good and there were some non-spicy dishes which suit me fine. I think I will bring my parents and my girls here for a meal.

My Birthday Celebration II
Today is the second part of my long weekend birthday celebration. It was buffet brunch with the family at mezza9, Hyatt Hotel. There are different kitchens at mezza9 such as steam basket, grill, deli counter, wok, seafood, thai, yakitori, sushi, and patisserie counter. It has been a long while since I last had buffet but I ate in moderation lol. :)
I really enjoyed my birthday brunch with my family. :)
Loved the chicken pate on bread, cold cuts, salad and seafood :)
Beijing duck wrap was delicious
Enjoyed the grilled pork and meatloaf with apple sauce
Marieann's desserts
The plum tart was good and not sweet! :)
Just couldn't resist: salted caramel and yoghurt ice cream

Tung Lok Seafood Buffet
We have had International, Western, Japanese buffets plenty of times. However, this is the first time we tried Chinese buffet. We ventured into Tung Lok Seafood Restaurant at Orchard Central because Marieann fancied having seafood. There are 40 dishes which we could choose from and we were allowed to order as many times as we want for 37 of those dishes. We had 10 different dishes such as crispy prawns with butter and cereal, crispy soft shell crab, steamed red tilapia with minced ginger sauce, sauteed sliced venison with black pepper sauce, crisp-fried seafood beancurd, sauteed chinese spinach with three kinds of eggs, and seafood salad with fresh fruits. There are 5 different desserts and we tried 4 of them - ice cream puff almond beancurd with longan, herbal jelly with honey, and sesame pancake with lotus seeds filling. Lol.
Some of the dishes we ordered
We were really stuffed by the end of our dinner. We told the waitress that the serving for each dish was huge even though it is buffet. She laughed and told us that we actually ordered very little as compared to others! :P
I wouldn't mind coming back here again because the food was really fresh and the price is pretty reasonable (adult: $38.80++; child: $28.80). :)

Melt Again
Juliane picked out tonight's dinner venue via the hungrygowhere website lol. She chose Melt - The World Cafe and as if to get me to approve tonight's dinner choice, she even showed me the kind of cuisine Melt serves. She claimed that she had never been there before. (Actually she has but she was only 4 years old then lol.)
There are quite a few food stations - Western, Indian, Malay, Japanese, Chinese, Seafood, BBQ and of course, Dessert! We left Melt quite stuffed and very happy. :)

Carousel Buffet Dinner
I don't understand why the girls, especially Marieann loves buffet. I mean they don't really eat much. After a while, I realised it is actually the dessert that they were after haha. :)
We went to Carousel at Royal Plaza on Scotts for buffet dinner after much pestering from Marieann. The spread was quite good and I think the theme tonight is Seafood. There were plenty of seafood dishes. :)

PS. I think the girls had too much dessert. They are still awake! And they have school tomorrow! :( I better go, going to knock them out. :P

Brain Food
I have been writing for most part of the day, yes even on a Sunday. No choice, have to get the revision done by the end of this month.
We went out for dinner at 6:30pm. The girls chose the venue, Kuishinbo Japanese Buffet Restaurant at Great World City. Just happened that Kuishinbo is now having a Hokkaido Fair. Paying adults have a special Hokkaido platter that comes with half a grilled lobster, uni (sea urchin), abalone salad, ikura gunkan (fish roe), botanebi (botan shrimp), hotate (scallop). However, as I don't take raw food, I could only eat the grilled half lobster and the abalone salad.
There were other dishes like roasted turkey, potato mentai, hotate (scallop) butter yaki, lobster fried rice, ostrich egg with oysters, king crab, hairy crab and many more.

After dinner, we had a quick walk around before going home at 8:30pm where I continued with my writing again.

The Line in the Rain
We went to The Line, Shangri-La Hotel for lunch. Despite making a reservation, we were seated outside because it was full indoors. That was fine until the heavy downpour at 12+pm. It was just too difficult trying to concentrate on savouring the food and keeping the rain out of our plates and faces. :( We managed to get a table indoors after we complained about the heavy rain spoiling our appetite. Ah, finally we could enjoy our food without getting the rain in our faces and in our food! :)

The adults most certainly enjoyed the international buffet but the children were also catered for. There was a little jumping castle near the bakery for the children to play as well as a children's buffet. There was also balloon twisting for them. The girls enjoyed themselves on the jumping castle after their food.
After lunch, I went for a hair cut so that I would look more presentable for the coming conference lol.

The Bar & Billiard Room, Raffles Hotel
We haven't had buffet for a long while now. We decided to go to The Bar & Billiard Room, Raffles Hotel because we haven't been there for a while too. I have a soft spot for the grand old dame, Raffles Hotel because my wedding banquet was held there lol.
We went for the first seating for buffet brunch: 11 - 1pm. It was rather nice as it wasn't too crowded. There were a number of food stations and the girls were really awed by the dessert table as was I hahaha. :P

We were most full by 1pm lol. We took some photos around Raffles Hotel before going home.

Kin Meng's Farewell
Yet another good friend and colleague is leaving.
A farewell lunch was organised at Sakura, Clementi Woods for Kin Meng. There were 10 of us - some are his colleagues working in the same project while some of us are his good friends. It is my second visit to Sakura. I thought the variety of food was not too bad and the price was quite economical too, lol. Amid the eating, we were able to relax and chat with one another. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to stay and linger longer at the farewell lunch as I had to rush back to the office for a 2pm meeting.
Kin Meng, it has been great fun being your neighbour - back when I was "squatting" in your fishbowl to being an official fishbowl mate in your fishbowl and to now, in the same cluster in the current batcave. Thanks for always keeping me up to date about the latest IT fairs, the latest mobile phones and notebooks, especially when I was looking for a new mobile and a notebook. Really appreciated it. :) Thanks for providing me with laughs, wait, isn't me that is the one providing you guys with laughs?! Hahaha. :P Whatever it is, I think it would be a little quieter with you gone, lol. DO keep in touch. All the best in your new job. :)

Headache, Dinner, Headache
My tension headache started in the afternoon in the midst of my meeting. I thought other than stress, it might also be related to the fact that I didn't have a proper lunch, so maybe blood sugar was too low or something.
We went for buffet dinner at Triple 3, Mandarin Hotel. For once, I didn't enjoy my dinner as much. My headache was worse than I thought. But I managed to eat some food and took some photos too. I think Triple 3 is pretty good for their spread of western food: fresh seafood (oysters, mussels, crayfish, prawns), salads/ appetisers, cooked dishes (chicken, pork, lamb, beef, ...), and they also have an Asian spread (Chinese, Japanese). The dessert selection is not too bad either: cakes, pralines, chocolate fondue, ice cream, ... One unique thing about Triple 3 is that half a lobster cooked with butter orange sauce was served with mashed potato to every adult.

We got home by 9pm. I tried to sleep early. Managed to sleep only for two hours before I woke up to a pounding headache. Sigh. Food didn't help, sleep didn't help... I can't take medicine because I am allergic to them. I drank peppermint tea, rubbed lavender oil on my temple, tried breathing exercises but nothing seemed to work well to relieve me of my headache... SIGH.
If anyone know of any alternative methods to relieve headaches, do let me know. Thanks in advance.

High Tea Buffet at The Dining Room
Having completed some work ahead of my own schedule, I decided to have a feast, of sorts, as a reward for myself, lol. We went to The Dining Room at Sheraton Towers Hotel for lunch. It is an international spread high tea buffet ($32 adult, $17 child). Not a lot of dishes as it is supposed to be high tea but it is filling enough. I enjoyed the sandwiches and the desserts the best, lol.
I had second helpings of the sandwiches. :)
The risotto was delicious.
Waffle with vanilla ice cream, strawberry, cinnamon apple and butterscotch banana. Yummy!
This is refreshing, aloe vera jelly with calamansi sorbet. I added the logan since I haven't had them for a LONG time, lol. :P
Although the spread was only average for a high tea buffet, the view of the cascading waterfall outside was beautiful. I guess can consider going back if the spread for dinner buffet is better.
