Hateful Headache

I am suffering from a headache since yesterday afternoon after my counselling. It is one of those headaches that is not enough to render you bedridden but yet does enough damage. Sigh. :(

Bedridden

I started developing a very bad headache in the afternoon. It's the kind that pounds relentlessly and makes you unable to hold anything in the stomach. The only way I found that I could alleviate the pain and to keep from throwing up was to lie still in bed. I ended up sleeping from 4+ pm until 10+ pm.

At least, the sleep did me some good in subsiding the relentless pounding but I will now have trouble sleeping tonight.

Green Around the Gills

I started feeling unwell late last night with an intense, pounding headache. I couldn't take any medication due to my allergic reaction to painkillers. Sigh. Tried various ways to ease my pain such as pressing hard on acupuncture points that link to headaches, rubbing lavender oil on my temple but to no avail. Finally, the pain got so bad that I threw up twice in the wee hours of the morning. At least I felt better after that and could catch a few hours of sleep.

I had to go into campus today because there was an important meeting at 2pm. I still had a headache but at least it was not as intense as last night.

I am feeling much better now. However, I still have no idea what was the cause of my intense headache. I wish I knew so that I can prevent another headache from happening. It is a torture suffering from such headaches. :(

Headache

Remember I mentioned before that I have been having headaches? I took some time off yesterday morning and went to NUH for a check.

I had a few tests done, had my eyes dilated and had a few more checks.

The verdict: my eyesight is almost perfect except for mild astigmatism which accounted for some slight double vision at night. I don't even need glasses! :)

However, with this good news, came the bad news. If my eyesight is fine, then something else is causing my headaches. Based on what I have described, I could be suffering from chronic tension headache or migraine. Sigh. Since I am allergic to panadol, aspirin, and amoxycillin, I have been given Codeine to try to control the headaches. Downside is Codeine can cause drowsiness and can be addictive so I have been cautioned only to take it when absolutely necessary. For the moment for my headaches, I just have to try Codeine. If it doesn't work, then I might have to go for a scan to ascertain what is really going on up there in my head. :(

PS Maybe I have already sustained phd from the PhD I am working on. (phd = permanent head damage) Hahaha. :P

Bad Headache

I started having a very bad headache the night before. It was so bad that I threw up. I felt slightly better after that. But as I worked on a journal paper, it started getting really bad again and I decided to call it a night at 2:50am. Maybe sleep might help.

Woke up in the morning and the headache was still there. Don't know what is wrong. Never had a headache so bad before... :( Actually my headaches are becoming more frequent too. Maybe it is time to have a check. :(

A Sure Way to have Migraine

is to be in my office. SIGH.

As it is the end of the year and most colleagues are away clearing their leave, I thought it would be the quietest time to do some writing. I could never be more wrong! :(

At 9am sharp, the drilling started and it went on until lunch time and continued again after lunch. The drilling was like a machine gun at the back of your head, firing into your head consistently and persistently, "da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da". Even when I was having my lunch far from the office, I could still hear the drilling in my head and not to mention, the pounding headache the drilling gave me.

There was just no way I could do any writing, and reading was out too. I could only looked up and printed articles useful for my dissertation and reading the abstracts was all I could do in terms of reading. Around 4pm, I gave up. My headache was just getting worse.

I really hope they will finish the re-construction soon. I really don't want to go through the noise and suffer a headache every time I am in the office. :(

Bad Headache

I HATE having headaches mainly because there is very little I can do about it. Allergic to the painkillers, remember?

I had a very bad headache in the evening on my way home. I am not too sure what brought it on. It might have been the one hour I spent in the printing room, photocopying a chapter from this huge Statistics textbook. Or it might have been Stats, lol. :P Or it might have been the 20 minutes I spent sitting at the spectators' stand in the late afternoon, hoping that a change of scenery might give me inspiration to re-work the book review I am working on. Nope, change of scenery didn't work. Sigh.

When I got home, I took a teaspoon (5 ml) of my liquid paracetamol at a strength of 250mg/5ml. That is the dosage for children under 5 years old. It is damn SAD! But anything more, I get an anaphylactic reaction. Sigh. I took a nap after my medication.

I am feeling all better now. :) It might have been the work of the paracetamol, even with such a low dosage. Or it might have been the nap that worked because looking back, I have had only 10 hours of sleep for the past 48 hours. :P

I think maybe for tonight, maybe I should sleep early.

Headache, Dinner, Headache

My tension headache started in the afternoon in the midst of my meeting. I thought other than stress, it might also be related to the fact that I didn't have a proper lunch, so maybe blood sugar was too low or something.

We went for buffet dinner at Triple 3, Mandarin Hotel. For once, I didn't enjoy my dinner as much. My headache was worse than I thought. But I managed to eat some food and took some photos too. I think Triple 3 is pretty good for their spread of western food: fresh seafood (oysters, mussels, crayfish, prawns), salads/ appetisers, cooked dishes (chicken, pork, lamb, beef, ...), and they also have an Asian spread (Chinese, Japanese). The dessert selection is not too bad either: cakes, pralines, chocolate fondue, ice cream, ... One unique thing about Triple 3 is that half a lobster cooked with butter orange sauce was served with mashed potato to every adult.

We got home by 9pm. I tried to sleep early. Managed to sleep only for two hours before I woke up to a pounding headache. Sigh. Food didn't help, sleep didn't help... I can't take medicine because I am allergic to them. I drank peppermint tea, rubbed lavender oil on my temple, tried breathing exercises but nothing seemed to work well to relieve me of my headache... SIGH.

If anyone know of any alternative methods to relieve headaches, do let me know. Thanks in advance.

Reading, First Month, Headache, Reading

Reading. I started reading "Brimstone" late last night or rather early this morning. It is very engaging. Page after page, chapter after chapter. I just couldn't put the book down! However, I was defeated by sleep around 2am. I woke up at 3am to find the book still in my hands. Hahaha. I continued reading when I woke up this morning. Thank goodness, I didn't have to work.

First Month. Today is Johanna's first month celebration. My cousins invited us for lunch at their condo's function room. But in the end, only I went as husband was not well. It was also catching up time with my other cousins and relatives (most of my relatives are overseas, either in Malaysia (father's side) or Taiwan (mother's side)).

Headache. After lunch, I started having a bad headache. I realised it was the catered food. The food must have had tons of MSG in them. I am allergic to MSG. And worse, I am also allergic to painkillers such as Panadol and Aspirin so I can't take anything to relieve my headache. Sigh. I could only drink lots of water and try to have a little rest. I hate headaches.

Reading. After a little nap, I felt much better. On with my reading! Hahaha. Of course lah. A little headache is not going to stop me from reading. I am so close to the end now. Hahaha. My dear friend, I will let you know what I think of Brimstone really soon. So stay tuned!
