We brought my father for dinner at Red House Seafood Restaurant as he mentioned that he hasn't had pepper crab for a long time. Red House used to one of the childhood restaurants that my family used to visit. My father enjoyed his seafood birthday dinner very much!

Grill-Out! @The Grandstand

This is the first time we are at The Grandstand, Turf City after its make-over into a family and lifestyle destination with lots of F & B outlets, kids' activities centres, and retail shops. 
We first went to PasarBella and it was really crowded. I enjoyed walking at PasarBella despite it being so crowded. It reminded me of the farmers' markets in Australia, with its farm produces, craft retailers and food stores - the bright colours, the wonderful aromas, the people. :)

As it was too crowded at PasarBella (which is located at North Grandstand), we walked over to South Grandstand to look for dinner. It took us a while to decide as there are plenty of choices. Close to 8pm, we finally settled at Grill-Out! for our dinner. Juliane and I had the Grill for 2@$35 which came with free juice and free salad or mushroom soup with truffle oil. We chose the pork chop and salmon from a list of 5 mains. I liked my salmon fillet with its sauce. Juliane's pork chop was tender and juicy.

Marieann had her usual Carbonara pasta and she never tires of the dish! The pasta came with generous amount of bacon. Yum! The girls' father tried the Barramundi which was fresh but the sauce was a little bland.

The prices at Grill-Out! are reasonable and affordable, and the food is good. :) 
After dinner, we went to Giant Hypermart to get groceries. I can see why The Grandstand is popular with families on weekends. :)  

Most Viewed Blog Post

I discovered today that one of my blog posts has been viewed over 400 times! It is my post on 17 November 2012 about Seafood Dinner@Atlantic Mix Grill. I wonder what's going on. However, there are only two photos on that post. If people are really interested about Atlantic Mix Grill restaurant, they should look at my second blog post of the restaurant dated 13 January 2013 because I took more photos on that second visit. :)

Meal@Atlantic Mix Grill (again) :)

This is our second visit to Atlantic Mix Grill and with my parents in tow. :) The first visit was back in November 2012. 
Both Juliane and her grandfather had Fish & Chips ($11.80), Marieann had Pink Salmon Spaghetti, my mother tried the Grilled Salmon ($14.80), the girl's father tried the newly included menu item, Pork Ribs ($16.80) and we shared a large Mixed Pot of clams and mussels in Atlantic Seafood Broth ($17.80) and escargot. We each thought our dish was delicious and the portion was just right for an adult. Might be a bit too much for children as we had to pack Marieann's spaghetti home and Juliane's too if I had not helped her to finish her second piece of fish fillet. Maybe they can consider coming up with Kid's size for certain dishes.
The girls and I also ordered Hot Chocolate Molten Lava Cake with ice cream ($7.80) for dessert. 

The fish fillets were crispy but not oily. The side salad was a good inclusion.

The portions of salmon in the spaghetti were big and generous. The cream sauce was yummy.

The pork ribs were huge and really tasty. :) The mashed potato was creamy and delicious.

The Atlantic seafood broth was tasty.

The hot chocolate molten lava cake was heaven (and not too sweet) and paired well with ice cream. :)

The dishes we tried were delicious and the prices remains reasonable which is good. :) Maybe next visit, we may see more new dishes and Kid's size dishes. :)

Seafood Dinner@Atlantic Mix Grill

It has been a long time since we were last out for dinner. We went to Suntec City and had dinner at this new eatery, Atlantic Mix Grill. It serves mainly seafood but there are a few meat dishes available for order. 
The girls, as usual, ordered pasta dishes, Marieann a Crayfish pasta and Juliane a Carbonara pasta (which was not on the menu but the chef has kindly cooked it). I tried the Grilled Salmon ($18.80). The salmon was grilled to perfection and went really well with the kahlua sauce. :) The mashed potato was creamy and well seasoned. :) We also had a few starters: Chicken Wings ($6.80), Buttered Corn ($5) and Fried Calamari ($8.80). We really love the chicken wings and the corn. :) For dessert, we tried the Chocolate Fondue ($14.80). We enjoyed eating our fruits with the dark chocolate. Yum. :)

The dishes at Atlantic Mix Grill are reasonably priced, between $5-24. If you are looking for a casual place to dine at Suntec City, give Atlantic Mix Grill a try.

Tung Lok Seafood Buffet

We have had International, Western, Japanese buffets plenty of times. However, this is the first time we tried Chinese buffet. We ventured into Tung Lok Seafood Restaurant at Orchard Central because Marieann fancied having seafood. There are 40 dishes which we could choose from and we were allowed to order as many times as we want for 37 of those dishes. We had 10 different dishes such as crispy prawns with butter and cereal, crispy soft shell crab, steamed red tilapia with minced ginger sauce, sauteed sliced venison with black pepper sauce, crisp-fried seafood beancurd, sauteed chinese spinach with three kinds of eggs, and seafood salad with fresh fruits. There are 5 different desserts and we tried 4 of them - ice cream puff almond beancurd with longan, herbal jelly with honey, and sesame pancake with lotus seeds filling. Lol.

We were really stuffed by the end of our dinner. We told the waitress that the serving for each dish was huge even though it is buffet. She laughed and told us that we actually ordered very little as compared to others! :P I wouldn't mind coming back here again because the food was really fresh and the price is pretty reasonable (adult: $38.80++; child: $28.80). :)

The Nautilus Project

We finally tried out a new eating place. :) We were at Prologue, Ion buying some assessment books. It was 1pm when we were done. We just headed for the nearest eating place, which happened to be The Nautilus Project, a bistro and seafood bar.

The girls' spaghetti ($10) was changed from its original Spaghetti Bolognaise to one in tomato sauce and a bit of fish. We were impressed as the dish came with lots of pieces of fish!
The girls' father and I both ordered the Nautilus Soup Kettles. I had mussels, clams, prawns, pipis, grouper, salmon and crab in Fresh Mediterranean stock with fries ($29). The girls; father had mussels, clams, reef fish, pipis, salmon in Clam Chowder stock with garlic toast ($24).
For dessert, we had Lavender Ivore and Banaeirre. My Lavender Ivore was lovely to look at and to eat. :)

Carousel Buffet Dinner

I don't understand why the girls, especially Marieann loves buffet. I mean they don't really eat much. After a while, I realised it is actually the dessert that they were after haha. :)

We went to Carousel at Royal Plaza on Scotts for buffet dinner after much pestering from Marieann. The spread was quite good and I think the theme tonight is Seafood. There were plenty of seafood dishes. :)



PS. I think the girls had too much dessert. They are still awake! And they have school tomorrow! :( I better go, going to knock them out. :P

Afternoon at The Singapore Flyer

After reading a promotional advert in the papers about a seafood restaurant, we decided to try it out for lunch.

Seafood Paradise is situated at The Singapore Flyer. The girls were pretty excited when they saw the Singapore Flyer. They thought they were going for a ride. Sorry, girls, we are only here for the food, lol. :P

The girls had the Seafood Thick Soup in Fragrant Coconut ($10). The soup was really sweet and fragrant. It was infused with the flavour of coconut. There was the usual seafood - prawn, scallop, crab meat in the soup with egg white. The girls totally enjoyed the soup, especially when it was served in cute little coconuts. :)

We ordered to share:
Stuffed BBQ Pork in Crispy Beancurd (Small, $12): the beancurd was mixed with some vege, stuffed with BBQ Pork (bak hwa) and fried till crispy. It was really fragrant and there was texture to the beancurd with the extra stuffings in it.


Wild Fungus with Asparagus (Small, $14): the asparagus was tender and there were several kinds of fungus in the dish.


Sambal Kang Kong (Small, $10): this one is for my mom. She thought the spiciness was there but a tad too sweet for her liking. Sorry, no pic as my mom refused to let me take a photo of it, lol. :P

Fragrant Crispy Duck (Half, $20): the duck was really crispy and fragrant. I really like this dish a lot.


What's the point of going to a seafood restaurant if we didn't order seafood? Lol. We had a Traditional Spicy Black Pepper Crab ($3.80 per 100g). My mom, the girls' father and the girls shared the crab. I didn't touch this dish as it was too spicy for my liking.


Stewed Ee-Fu Noodles (Medium, $18): the noodles were nicely stewed with mushrooms, bean sprouts, chives, and crabmeat. It wasn't too salty which was nice.


For desserts: the girls' father had Cream of mango with pomelo ($3.50), Juliane had Mango pudding ($3.50), Marieann had Honey dew sago ($3.50) and I had Double boiled Hashima with red dates ($6.50). They were pretty standard fare so no pics.



After lunch, we walked around The Singapore Flyer place to de-frost as the air con at the restaurant was really cold. There were some complimentary activities going on, sponsored by The Singapore Flyer - Balloon Sculpturing, Caricature and Face-painting. To compensate the girls for not bringing them on the Singapore Flyer, we allowed them to go for all the activities. Hahaha. The girls loved their balloon sculptures.




They enjoyed getting their caricatures done. Well, my mom and I couldn't resist it too and we also got our caricatures done, lol. :P

Last but not the least, the girls had their face-painting done. :) They were the first kids who were enthusiastic enough to have their faces painted! The other kids only had their hands or arms painted, lol. Hmm, wonder where they inherited their gungho-ness from? Lol. :P




We left for home at 3:30pm. After all that excitement, the girls were really tired and they fell asleep even before we could reach home. :)

It has been a really enjoyable day!

Happy Birthday Dinner

Tonight, we went to Lawry's for my birthday celebration.

I quite like the whole ambiance of the restaurant. =) Thank goodness, the girls were well-behaved, lol.

The girls ordered from the Kids Special which came with a starter, main course and dessert:
Starters: Soup of the Day - Cream of Roasted Carrot. It was really delicious.
Main Course: Kid's Burger ($19.80++) - Chicken burger char-grilled with melted cheddar cheese, fried egg, sliced tomato, lettuce and served with French fries and tomato sauce.
Dessert: Marieann ordered Haagen Dazs Strawberry Ice cream while Juliane ordered the oven-baked Pecan Nut Brownie Cake with a scoop of vanilla ice cream (Haagen Dazs) and covered with chocolate hot fudge, garnished with light whipping cream and maraschino cherry and chopped pistachio nuts. The brownie was to die for, lol. Ok, maybe because I haven't had any brownie in ages. (NB: I only took a two teaspoon, lol) The girls also each received a free juice and free gift. Nice touch.




For the adults, when we ordered the main course, they came with Lawry's The Famous Original Spinning Bowl Salad. The salad was a blend of crisp romaine and iceberg lettuce, watercress, shredded beets, chopped eggs and croutons, and tossed with an exclusive vintage dressing in a salad bowl spun on a bed of ice. The girls were really intrigued by the the spinning bowl salad. The salad was really nice, fresh and crisp.


My father ordered a Tequila Salmon ($43.80++) The salmon was almond Coated and pan seared, accompanied with three different canapes: a crispy corn tortilla spoon with tomato salsa, tiger prawns with caviar, and sun dried tomato cream cheese with pistachio nuts on toast. The salmon was served with a lemon grass cream sauce, Idaho mashed potatoes, pan seared asparagus and roasted cherry tomatoes. Didn't get to try it but it looked good. :)


The girls' father ordered Fresh Fish Selection ($43.80++) - sea bream with melted cheddar cheese, topped with mussels and bacon and served with assorted vegetables. I wasn't listening to the server when she was describing the catch of the day. When it came, I was also more interested in my own main course, lol. Sorry, just try to guess from the photo if it was good. :P


Both my mother and I ordered the Seafood Maryland ($78.80++). It is a seafood foursome of: an Atlantic lobster tail with caviar cheese sauce, pan seared almond coated salmon fillet with lemon grass sauce, a pan fried sea scallop stuffed with prunes and served with a sweet balsamic vinegar sauce, and a Champagne batter deep fried banana king prawn with a citrus tartar sauce. Served with Idaho mashed potatoes and assorted vegetables. I thought it was sumptuous! The portion was just right and not too heavy. The various sauces went quite well with its respective seafood except for the caviar cheese sauce which was a little too salty but overall, it was good!! Simply heaven. :)


There was a "surprise" birthday cake for me and singing of "Happy Birthday" by the staff of Lawry's. It was nice. The girls were more excited than I was and wanted to blow out my candle for me, lol. We blew it out together and I made a wish. Shhh... can't tell or it won't come true, lol.







It has been a most lovely birthday. Throughout today, I have received birthday wishes from family and friends via SMSes, emails, Facebook, and phone calls. I received a few gifts too. Thank you very much, my family and friends. I really appreciate and treasure all the well wishes that you have sent my way. Thank you.
