Japan Trip 2016: Day 12 Part 1 13 Dec 2016 Tues - Nozomi 124, Tokaido Shinkansen & Shinjuku Washington Hotel

It is our last morning in Kyoto and it is drizzling. At least the Kyoto Station is just opposite ibis Styles hotel, across the street and we would not get too wet. We took our time to have breakfast before checking out at 11am.
With plenty of time to spare, before our Nozomi 124 departs at 11:36am, we bought our bento lunches. It was really difficult choosing one because there were so many delicious looking bento lunch boxes to choose from!
As usual, the train arrived on time and departed soon after. We settled in our seats and I started taking photos of the scenery. As it is a cold day, there was low cloud cover and the scenery took on a romantic surreal look.

We arrived at Shinagawa Station, Tokyo and took a train to Shinjuku Station. We managed to arrive at Shinjuku Washington Hotel, just after 2pm for check-in. Unfortunately, when I booked the room, I didn't check and actually reserved the Economy Double instead of the Standard Double which we stayed in during our earlier leg of our Tokyo trip. The Economy Double is a real TIGHT squeeze for two persons with three check-in luggage and two carry-on luggage. Actually, there is no room to move about at all. :( Reminder to self: Always double check the booking details.

The Line in the Rain

We went to The Line, Shangri-La Hotel for lunch. Despite making a reservation, we were seated outside because it was full indoors. That was fine until the heavy downpour at 12+pm. It was just too difficult trying to concentrate on savouring the food and keeping the rain out of our plates and faces. :( We managed to get a table indoors after we complained about the heavy rain spoiling our appetite. Ah, finally we could enjoy our food without getting the rain in our faces and in our food! :)

The adults most certainly enjoyed the international buffet but the children were also catered for. There was a little jumping castle near the bakery for the children to play as well as a children's buffet. There was also balloon twisting for them. The girls enjoyed themselves on the jumping castle after their food.

After lunch, I went for a hair cut so that I would look more presentable for the coming conference lol.

The Bar & Billiard Room, Raffles Hotel

We haven't had buffet for a long while now. We decided to go to The Bar & Billiard Room, Raffles Hotel because we haven't been there for a while too. I have a soft spot for the grand old dame, Raffles Hotel because my wedding banquet was held there lol.

We went for the first seating for buffet brunch: 11 - 1pm. It was rather nice as it wasn't too crowded. There were a number of food stations and the girls were really awed by the dessert table as was I hahaha. :P

We were most full by 1pm lol. We took some photos around Raffles Hotel before going home.
