Manuscript Proof

I submitted my manuscript proof back to the publisher after accepting the changes they have made, attending to their production related questions and suggesting several minor corrections, e.g. typo.

Education 3-13, Volume 44 Issue 4

My article entitled "I can assess myself: Singaporean primary students' and teachers' perceptions of students' self-assessment ability" is finally published in Education 3-13 International Journal, Volume 44, Issue 4, pages 442 to 457.
It is so surreal to see my article in an actual journal. :P

Part of the Community

It's pretty awesome when a top tier assessment journal asked you to review a manuscript submitted to it. To me, it means that my work in self-assessment is being recognised and I am a part of the Assessment community. :)

Submitting SOON!

I have a manuscript which I have to revise and resubmit by 5 September 2015. I have been pushing hard to finish all the revisions and my friends have been pushing me too. I managed to finish the revision and a good friend also helped to edit and proofread my manuscript.
Thank goodness, I have a few more hours to play with due to the time zone difference in checking through the manuscript and making sure the changes are also reflected accurately in the cover letter to the editor and reviewers before submitting it.
I promise I will never leave it so late again.

Good News II

I received news about my journal manuscript. The journal wants me to make further revision before resubmitting. This is considered good news because it is not a rejection! :)

Reviewer

Recently I was invited to be a reviewer by a journal for one of their manuscripts. The abstract looked interesting and of my interest area. I decided to accept the invitation. :)

Roundtable

I attended my first Journals Editorial Roundtable 2015 organised by Taylor & Francis since becoming a Review Editor last March. It was an eye opener for me to hear of some of the antics desperate authors do! I certainly have benefited from the session! :)
Lunch was provided and it was an eye opener for me too! Never expected such a sumptuous meal! But then it is at Goodwood Park Hotel so it has its standards! :P The soup, Veloute of Wild Forest Mushroom was delicious. In between food, I was chatting to my colleague from my organisation. We hardly see each other on campus so it was a good chance to catch up. :)
My choice of main: Pan Fried Sea bass with Lemon Dill Sabayon. Yum!
Dessert: Pistachio Parfait with Sesame Tuile. Heaven!!

My 1st Sole-Authored Article!

My first sole-authored journal article has been published in an international education journal, Education 3-13! I am over the moon! :) The article, which is based on part of my PhD about students' self-assessment ability, has been published online on 24 November! The acceptance of my manuscript is also the best birthday present thus far as it was accepted for publication on 27 October. :)

For those of you who are interested in assessment, here is the link to the abstract of my article: I can assess myself: Singaporean primary students' and teachers' perceptions of students' self-assessment ability
It is still pretty surreal to see my name on a journal article! Lol :P

Travel Journal

Although I was pretty tired from the trip (making sure kids were safe and had enough to eat in a foreign land haha), I worked on the travel journal which the kids were supposed to have done in Penang. I always have a travel journal for each overseas trip so that we have a scrapbook memory of what we have seen and done, other than the photos such as brochures, ticket stubs, etc. :)

Submitted!

I submitted my first article as sole author for review to an international journal. A small milestone in the career of an early academic researcher. :P It is currently under review. Fingers crossed!
