Late Night Working

NIE at 1220am. Officially I am the most hardworking researcher as of today haha. 

It's actually quite peaceful, not scary. When taking the photo, there was a security guard walking in the car park area. I couldn't see because I wasn't wearing my glasses but my phone cam pick up movement. For a moment, I thought, "Finally, a ghost!" Haha.

Final!

I finally managed to finalise my conference presentation slides. I am usually still trying to finalise up to a day before my presentation. This is considered an achievement because it has been finalised a week before my presentation!  

Apologies for the Silence

I have been very busy at work since my work portfolio has expanded and have not been updating my blog regularly. :( Sincere apologies. 
I must find time and get back to my blogging as it is a form of me time for me. I need to take better care of myself! 

Claims

Another day spent on the administrative aspect of research work - preparing claims. 

Emails

After two weeks away from the office, I spent the whole day clearing 200+ emails and archiving the important ones. Not the most exciting part of research work.  

Weekend Work

I seem to be catching up with work during the weekend. Don't think this is a very good work-life balance. :(

Students' Work Experience II

Today marks the end of the three Sec 4 students' time with my project for their work experience. We hope they have learnt some take-away which they can apply in their future. We certainly enjoyed having them with us. 

Catch Up

After going on leave for two weeks, catching up on the emails and following up is no joke! 

Students' Work Experience

For the coming two weeks, my project is hosting three Sec 4 students from Catholic High School for their Work Experience Programme. We hope it will be a good experience for the boys. 

Student Work Experience

Once again, I took in five Secondary 3 students under my project for their work experience programme. Although it is only a one day programme, I built in both information-giving and hands-on for the students without making it too boring or too over-whelming for them as it is their first experience with research work.

My colleagues, Liyana and Cheryl and I enjoyed interacting with the students. We hope that the skills that they learnt at the work experience can also be applied to their school work. 

Bad Habit

of checking work email even on weekends. I need to break this bad habit. 
I should be spending time with my girls, I should be resting to recharge for the new work week, I should not be checking work emails.  

First RS Work Appraisal

I had my first work appraisal as a Research Scientist. I have to report on three areas of work - Research, Teaching and Service. I think I did pretty ok considering I have only been a RS for nine months. :P  

Working Weekend

I don't know when it started but I am working on most weekends, catching up on work as my weekdays are filled with meetings... 

Deadline

Juggling and struggling with several deadlines at the same time is NO joke. :(

Emails!

Today is my first day back at work after my Japan Trip 2016. I spent the whole day clearing emails! I am only through with clearing about two-thirds of the 300+ emails which accumulated over the 13 days I was away. :O

2nd Round Day 2

It is Day 2 of our 2nd round of data collection. It is really great to hear teachers share their experiences and thoughts so openly with us. Really appreciate it, Teachers. :)
