I have been very busy at work since my work portfolio has expanded and have not been updating my blog regularly. :( Sincere apologies.
I must find time and get back to my blogging as it is a form of me time for me. I need to take better care of myself!

Event Organiser
I think I may add another skill to my skill set - event organising. Lol.
I have been busy helping to organise a 3-day symposium on Educational Neuroscience which will be held next week. I have been liaising with the speakers, the other organisations, etc. Despite being really busy and harassed at times, I do feel a sense of achievement too. :)

Today, we all had separate activities to attend - Juliane had her playdate at Universal Studio Singapore, I had my colleague's wedding dinner, and Marieann had tuition and time at her paternal grandmother's place.

RPC 2015 Go!
Today is the first day of Redesigning Pedagogy Conference 2015. As part of the organising committe, I have been involved in various aspects of the conference before it started from reviewing of abstracts, grouping of papers, scheduling of rooms for presentations, to sourcing for buddies to look after the keynote speakers. As I am the chair for the Keynoter sub-committee, my work begins at the conference - looking after and making sure the keynote speakers are taken care of. Started at 8am and have not stopped since.

Getting Busier
With the start of the new year, it is slowly getting busier...

Last Minute Rush II
After we had an early lunch at The Soup Spoon at Paragon, I had to run one more errand. I needed to get a travel journal from Muji. So far, I found Muji has the best travel journal. Well, technically, it is not really a travel journal but a F4 sketch book. What I love about the sketch book is that it comes with ribbons so that it can be tied together to prevent stuff from dropping out. :) I have been documenting our travels in such travel journals. I hope for the girls to have a different kind of visual memory other than the photos.
After that, my mother and I went for a hair cut. Juliane accompanied us. We told her it would be boring but she didn't listen lol. Well, she was pretty bored waiting for us but she didn't misbehave. Instead she chose to amuse herself by making faces in the mirror and laughing at herself, and pretending to cut my hair while I was waiting for my hair-dresser.
I guess all the last minute rush over the weekend has taken its toll on me. I took two naps, one in the afternoon after my hair-cut and one after dinner, lol. Feeling pretty refreshed after my naps. Now to review what I have written for my Chapter 4. :P

Last Minute Rush
This is the last weekend where I could still run my errands in preparation for my two overseas trips which is one after the other immediately.
In the morning, we "divide and conquer". The girls' father went to the girls' pediatrician to get some medication (fever, flu, cough, diarrhea) on standby for the Hong Kong trip while I went to the post office to mail a parcel to my nephews in England. Boys, your pressies are in the mail, should get to you boys by next week. Thanks for being patient with 姑妈. :) After that, I went to my family doctor with my girls to get my standby medication for my two trips while the girls' father went to Apple store at Wheelock. We met back at Wheelock and decided to have lunch at Sun with Moon Japanese restaurant. It has been a while since we had food here.
The girls shared a Tori Kamameshi ($17.80): chicken with teriyaki sauce, miso soup, appetiser, pickles, fruit and tea. The girls were more thrilled with the hourglass that came with their set lunch than their lunch, lol. But they managed to finish everything and even had some of my lunch set. Haha.
I had Hokkai Sushi Roll & Sapporo Charsiew Shoyu Ramen ($32.80): sushi with scallop tempura, crab meat and asparagus, salmon sashimi, ramen with soy sauce stock and charsiew, pickles, fruit and tea. The girls shared my ramen. The ramen stock and charsiew weren't too bad but I thought the ramen could have been a little more springy. I really like the sushi, the combination of scallop, crabmeat and asparagus were really good. I gave away my salmon sashimi because I don't take raw fish.
The girls' father had Hotate Butter Yaki & Mini Buta Don ($29.80): grilled scallop with butter, mini grilled pork rice bowl, salmon sashimi, pickles, fruit and coffee. The grilled pork was a little tough but the taste was not bad.
We all shared a Tofu Cheese Cake and a Blue Berried Honeysuckle & Vanilla Mousse ($5.80). I thought the mousse was really unique and delicious. I could taste the honeysuckle and it gave a refreshing slant to the mousse.
After lunch, I went to POSB, Centrepoint to get the bank's swift code as I needed that for the Korean conference while the girls' father went to get a jacket from Robinson's. We also pick up some toiletries for the trip. Once home, I started to pack for the trips - the girls' and my clothing for the Hong Kong trip in one luggage and in a separate luggage, the clothing for my Korean trip. No choice, I have to pack my Korean trip luggage now, otherwise there is no time when I return from the Hong Kong trip.
I got a lot done today. But there is more to be done, lol. Later, I will make a small addition to my conference presentation slides and work on my Chapter 4 Results. :P

Crunch Time
It is crunch time today at the centre. Today is the deadline to hand in grant proposals.
It was a flurry of action, writing, calculating, printing... I was helping out with 3 proposals. It was no easy job lol. Thanks goodness, I had friends who helped me with printing and photocopying so that I could concentrate on writing and calculating the budgets. Thanks, my friends. Really appreciated the help. :)
Finally, I managed to get 2 proposals done and thank goodness, we had an extension till Tuesday morning. At least, I could double check that I have done everything right for the 3rd proposal. :P

Busy but Fruitful Day
I have a real busy day today, 3 meetings back to back, lol. When I told a good friend, he actually laughed and said, "Welcome to my world". :P
My first meeting was at 9:15am with my PI and another professor. It was a really good meeting as we were given some food for thought about our project. It got us pretty excited. My second meeting started at 10:15am. Again, it was a productive meeting. Plans were drawn out for what to do in the coming week(s). At 11:30am, I had a lunch meeting with a colleague and a professor. We went to Colbar for lunch. It is the first time I am there. It is a very nice place, very rustic. I feel like I am back in the 60s. Well, it is an actual 60s' building, decor and everything, lol. A total breath of fresh air. :) We all had a good time enjoying the rustic surrounding, the food and our interesting conversation. :)
Got back to office around 1:20pm. Started to do some packing as our fishbowls* will be moving into one big "pond" at the end of this month. And I just moved into my current fishbowl 4 months ago. Now I have to pack again. Argh.
It has been a really busy day but extremely fruitful.
* For those new to reading my blog, my office space for 10 people is fondly called the fishbowl at my research centre. There are 6 fishbowls in all. We will move into one big office space at the end of the month.

Busy, Busy, Busy
I had a really long day.
I was at a school workshop from 9 to 3:30pm. I was one of the facilitators for the workshop but didn't really have to do too much. :) After the workshop, I rushed back to office. I had to apply for leave for my coming trip to Australia, return a book, and settle some other admin work.
I went for a seminar at 5pm which lasted an hour and a half. It was really insightful. I enjoyed the seminar. Have quite a few things to consider after that seminar. Will take my time off in Australia to do that, lol.
Came home after dinner, close to 9pm. Forgot that I had my Aunt and Uncle over from Sarawak for a visit. The place was crowded but lively. :) Did some activitist work: sending out circulars to my estate against enbloc. Argh! I hate enbloc!
After doing all that, it was close to midnight and I realised that I haven't pack my luggage yet! Sigh. I am really tired. Had a LONG day. I will do my packing tomorrow. :P

Busy Weekend
This is going to be a busy weekend for my family and I.
On Saturday evening, my mother has organised a dinner party for my aunt and uncle and cousins from Kuching. She would be cooking her Chicken Rice and her Taiwanese 扣肉包 (Braised Pork Pau) for them. I will take some photos of her braised pork pau and upload the photos onto my next post.
As for me, I will be attending my SCGS school reunion, 6 - 9:30pm. Haven't seen some of my classmates for years since we graduated from SCGS. Wonder how they look now. :P
On Sunday, I might bring the girls for their Hot Air Balloon ride which we missed out the other time (which was together with the DUCK tour) because of bad weather. Must remember to charge my camera battery so that I can take loads of aerial view photos of Singapore. Lol.
In the afternoon, I have a gathering to attend. After which, I will have to rush back for another dinner party that my mother has organised. She has invited my dentist friend, Hoon and her dentist friends to dinner. Not sure what she is going to prepare for that dinner. But will take the photos. :)

Busy Day
I was out of my place by 8:30am... returned home at 7:30pm. My poor, tired feet. LOL.
8:30 - 11:30 am
I was at my gynae's (at Gleneagles Medical Centre) for my annual check-up - the full works (pap smear, ultrasound scan, etc). Better to be safe than sorry, especially after my health scare a year ago. I am on a new lease of life and I intend to keep it that way. LOL. After almost 3 hours (in between waiting, I was reading Child's Deep Storm), I was given a clean bill of health. My gynae thinks that I am perfect for having more babies. Err... no thank you. Hahaha.

I managed to come home to check my emails, sent out an email to good friend, and replied SA's comment on my blog. SA wanted to know which books or series of David Gemmell to start on. I tried my best to help but will have to ask my brother for more information as he is the one reading Gemmell.

We met up with Juliane's Godfather, who came back to Singapore, from UK, for lunch. Juliane was happy to see her Kai Ye. Our mutual friend, Kuan Ling also joined us for lunch at Crystal Jade Golden Palace, Paragon. We had our usual Dim Sum. Lol.
3:30 - 5:00 pm
Since I am already at Paragon, might as well have a look around, right?! I haven't done so much window shopping as today since the Great Singapore Sale started. Hahaha. Hmm... nothing caught my eye, can save money. LOL.
5:15 - 7:15 pm
Hmm... since already out, might as well as shop some more, right?! Don't waste time. Hahaha. We went back to our favourite haunt, Isetan Scotts. We parked the car at Wheelock Place and walked to Isetan using the underpass. Here, I finally managed to find something that caught my fancy - a dress. Lol.
Time for dinner, decided that dinner should be a simple affair. Took the girls to MOS Burger. LOL. Yup, dinner was really simple, delicious and INEXPENSIVE (to those who always said I only go for expensive food, you are wrong! LOL). Hahaha. I think the girls enjoyed their dinner but I would not be doing this often. After all, fast food not that good for health, right? :P

Home Sweet Home. Time to put my feet up, make a cup of tea, hmm... maybe Mint tea and go back to my reading of Child's Deep Storm which a very good friend lent to me. Bliss! LOL.
