I accidentally found these stash of children's books on virtues - honesty, love, friendship, hope, courage, and respect. Reminds me of my childhood.
making it easier to keep in touch with family and friends

Children's Books
I found these books in the counselling room when i was waiting for my next counsellee to arrive. I am pretty amazed that they are still around since 1976. Someone must have been pretty sentimental and taken good care of these books instead of throwing them away.

Trick or Treat
Not long after dinner at 7+pm, we heard loud banging on our front door with loud cries of "Trick or Treat". It seemed our Caucasian and Eurasian neighbours in our block decided to start a new tradition this year - celebrate Halloween lol. Unfortunately for the children, we don't celebrate Halloween and we don't have candies at home.
I answered the door and broke the news to the children who were all looking so expectantly at me for some Treats.
Sorry, Kids! We don't celebrate Halloween. Don't forget to brush your teeth after eating all the Treats! :P
Thank goodness for the parents who were accompanying the young children and helped to disperse the disappointment. Phew.

Can I Play a Prank on You?
Who in the world will ask for permission before they play a prank? My daughters did.
It is April Fools' Day today. They asked me and I gave them a killer glare. That pretty much stopped them in their tracks in pulling whatever prank they wanted to pull on me.
Not long after, I heard my mother saying, "I am Ah Ma (grandmother), I am not easily fooled!" Guess they tried to pull a prank on my mother and didn't work out either. It must have been a really boring April Fools' Day for my girls lol. :P

H2O: Just Add Water
Marieann and Juliane are currently watching H2O: Just Add Water, an 2006-2010 Australian television programme for children, pre-teens and teenagers on tv (can't remember which channel it is showing on). The story revolves round three teenage girls who accidentally gained mermaids' powers and their new lives. I happened to catch it one evening and I didn't mind watching it! Lol. The theme song "No Ordinary Girl" is quite catchy as well. :) There were only three seasons of H2O: Just Add Water but the production of a spin-off has started in 2012.
It is now showing Season 2. I recognised the landmarks in the show because it was filmed in Gold Coast, Queensland as well as two familiar faces from the show - Claire Holt (Rebekah in The Vampire Diaries) and Craig Horner (Richard Cypher in Legend of the Seeker). Goodness, they look so young then lol.

Xbox Kinect
A good friend invited my kids over to their place play Xbox Kinect. It is really timely because I have been thinking about Xbox Kinect as a source of exercise for the kids. The kids hardly do any kind of exercise at home. Their only source of exercise is their PE lessons in school. I am very worried that they are becoming overweight, especially when they have the fat genes from their father's side of the family. :( The girls really enjoyed themselves playing with the Xbox Kinect, especially Dance Central lol. Hmm... I am seriously considering getting it but I have to make sure it will not distract the girls from their studies.

Kids at Work II
Brought the kids to work again. My workplace is now relatively quiet as most researchers are on leave. :)

Kids At Work
As promised, I brought the girls to work. There are now four empty workstations around me and they were very glad to have a workstation each. They said they felt like an adult lol. :P They settled down in no time and started doing their homework. I am very surprised lol. They do feel very comfortable at my workplace. I will bring them back again but not everyday as I do not want my other colleagues to feel uncomfortable with the presence of children in the office.

One Thing by One Direction
My girls are currently crazy over this song, One Thing by One Direction.
One Thing (uploaded by OneDirectionVEVO)
They have listened to it so often that its chorus "So get out, get out, get out of my head" is stuck in my head. Now I need the song to get out of my head! :P

Settling
The girls are settling down to their new standard respectively. They are also establishing their own work routine after school. It is a good start for the new year. :)

Family Gathering
My uncle and auntie (who arrived in Singapore today from Malaysia), my cousins and cousin-in-laws came over for dinner at my place. The girls were thrilled to see their cousin, Johanna again. Thankfully, my girls click well with most of the children who come over to my place. My girls also like to look after them like the big sisters they are.

Belated Mid-Autumn Festival Celebration
It was Mid-Autumn Festival yesterday on 3 October. The girls didn't care too much about eating mooncakes and pomelo. They were only interested in lighting up their lanterns and walking round the estate with them. However as it was drizzling, the girls couldn't carry their lanterns around the estate and they were sorely disappointed. :(
After dinner at Xin Wang HK Cafe, Anchorpoint, there was some time left for the girls to carry their lanterns before their bedtime at 9pm and also before it starts to drizzle/ rain again. Eventhough they only walked to the playground and back, they were still thrilled. I guess it was the fun of carrying a lighted lantern lol. :)

PS. I had the Pork Chop with Mee Sua in Papaya Soup ($8.90) at Xin Wang. The soup which had milk added in it was really tasty and so was the mee sua. :)

Children and Mooncakes
It's Children's Day today. Unfortunately, I couldn't take leave as there is plenty of work to do before going out to schools again tomorrow. But I think the girls were able to entertain themselves at home. I managed to get home earlier as I had to bring the test equipments to store in the school first before tomorrow.
After dinner, we went to Takashimaya to get mooncakes. We have yet to buy our mooncakes for this year's Mid-Autumn Festival which falls on 3 October. After walking one round, we decided to get our White Lotus 4 Yolks mooncakes from Dragon Phoenix Restaurant. :) I love the yolk! :P I also bought the girls their laterns which they can light up and carry around the estate on Saturday night.

Shoes, Lipstick and Bra
I really have no idea why kids want to grow up so fast.
On several occasions, I have found my shoes misplaced. The girls have been walking in my shoes literally. They claimed that they want to be like me, a grown up. Sigh. Hold your horses, girls. Your turn will come.
Just on Tuesday, I came home after work to discover Juliane broke my lipstick in half. She was trying to put on the lipstick so that in her words, "I want to be like Ma Ma" but she used too much strength and broke it. Hmm, maybe must lay off her milk lol. I wanted to be angry with her but couldn't as she admitted her wrongdoing and apologised.
On another occasion, I discovered both girls playing with my bra. Sigh. I told them to wait for another ten years at least before they could wear that. Lol. Juliane actually had the audacity to ask me to buy a lace bra for her. Gosh! I didn't know whether to laugh or to be angry with her. Lol. :P
Girls, take your time to grow up. Enjoy your childhood first, ok? Lol.
