Not long after dinner at 7+pm, we heard loud banging on our front door with loud cries of "Trick or Treat". It seemed our Caucasian and Eurasian neighbours in our block decided to start a new tradition this year - celebrate Halloween lol. Unfortunately for the children, we don't celebrate Halloween and we don't have candies at home.
I answered the door and broke the news to the children who were all looking so expectantly at me for some Treats.
Sorry, Kids! We don't celebrate Halloween. Don't forget to brush your teeth after eating all the Treats! :P
Thank goodness for the parents who were accompanying the young children and helped to disperse the disappointment. Phew.

Trick or Treat
My daughters came to me worried when I came home from work. They said someone left a notice at the entrance of our block announcing that it is Halloween tomorrow and ready or not, it is trick or treat.
Girls: "Would the children play a trick on us if we don't have treats/ sweets for them?"
Me: "Well, I guess if we don't celebrate Halloween (no decorations on the door, etc), the children wouldn't come to our unit."
Girls: "Hmm... We better stay in the bedroom after 7pm."
Me: "Why?"
Girls: "So when the children come, they would think that no one is at home as the living room is in darkness."
To my credit, I didn't laugh at them. They are problem-solving a potential issue for them. :)

Halloween
Well, we don't celebrate Halloween, even though my girls would love too. Apparently the below is How I feel about Halloween lol. Quite apt that I see Halloween as scary. Time to watch all the scary movies haha. :P
| You See Halloween as Scary |
A bit of an introvert, you like the special occasions just as much as everyone else. You just have your own unique way of celebrating Halloween. Yes, celebrate by watching scary movies! You definitely think of yourself as someone who has a dark side. And part of having that dark side means not showing it. True :) Your inner child is stubborn and a bit bossy. Some people would agree to that lol. You truly fear the dark side of humanity. You are a true misanthrope. You're prone to be quite emotional and over dramatic. Deep down, you enjoy being scared out of your mind... even if you don't admit it. Should see me when I am watching a really scary movie :P You are picky and high maintenance. If you wear a Halloween costume, it's only when you really feel like it. And it has to be perfect. More of all or nothing. If you really want to do something, then be perfect at it. Ok maybe that is the perfectionist streak in me talking lol |

Happy October Birthday IV
It is the last October birthday in my family and the honour goes to my mother. Yes, she was born just past midnight on Halloween many years ago haha. The girls are in total awe of their grandmother and her uncanny ability to know when they are up to no good! They think she has magic like a witch lol. :P

Halloween Month
My girls seem to be gearing up for Halloween each in their own way even though we don't celebrate it lol.
Marieann made a "dress" for the peephole. I had a shock when I first saw it, not expecting it to be there. But I have to laugh at her creativity. :)

Juliane geared up by watching the RE trilogy with me. Although I have seen the movies a couple of times, I still jumped at scary places. Juliane didn't even moved a muscle but she chided me for scaring her when I jumped. I was rendered speechless...

Halloween Birthday
It is Halloween today and it is also my mother's birthday. The girls were thrilled to know that their grandmother's birthday falls on Halloween. They also think she has supernatural powers because she always knows when they are up to no good! Lol.

It is also one of the stormiest Halloween ever. The thunderstorm this afternoon/ evening was one of the worst ever. We could hardly see anything out the window because of the heavy rain and the thunder was rambling most loudly. :S
Initially I wanted to take my mother out for lunch but a close family friend came over so only we went for lunch. We went to Nolboo Hangari Galbi, Orchard Central because the girls' father wanted to try out this Korean restaurant. We tried the Korean glass noodle ($18), Ginseng Chicken soup ($26) and Grilled pork belly. There were complimentary side dishes and appetiser. The taste is pretty good. The pork was grilled in front of us which was interesting for the girls but downside, the smell got onto our clothes.

Witch
A Blothings quiz. The result rendered me speechless lol. :P
| You Are a Witch |
Like a witch, you are often misunderstood and unfairly judged. You are not as sinister as you seem. You are intelligent and spiritual. You feel very connected to the world - both the dark and light sides of things. You tend to keep to yourself, and because of this people tend to think things about you that aren't true. You would just like to be left alone to do your own thing. You have no intention of harming anyone, even though you could if you wanted to! |

Horror Movies
Here is one Blogthings quiz in keeping with the Halloween theme. :)
Horror is one of my favourite genres, be it books or movies. :) I love a good scare! Feeling my heart pounding away, me jumping out of my skin makes me feel ALIVE lol.
Oh yes, I do love horror movies where there are monsters, lots of blood and gore, lots of action and destruction (but don't quite fancy the screaming kind of action). Yes, my favourite all-time horror movies are actually The Alien trilogy and The Mummy trilogy. :) But I somehow don't see King Kong as horror, it's just a gigantic gorilla in an action/ drama movie. :(

| You Are a Monster Movie |
Nothing makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand up like a menacing monster, whether that monster comes from a lab or outer space. You like horror movies with a lot of action and destruction. Of course you want the good guys to win in the end... but not until many people die first. You appreciate the creativity involved with imagining the ultimate monster. The idea of an evil that is capable of anything both delights and frights you. Your favorite movies have a unique take on the definition of monster. You go for movies like Alien, the Mummy, and King Kong. |

Happy Birthday, Mother & Happy Halloween
Today is my mother's birthday. We celebrated her birthday again, with another cake, lol. A mango cake this time and from Hilton Hotel again, lol.

Today is also the Eve of All Saints' Day or Eve of All Hallows or Halloween. We often joked that since my mother was born on Halloween's night, she must be a witch, lol. :P Well, she often has very uncanny insight into matters and people. Can be really scary, lol.
Here is wishing you a very Happy Birthday.
May all your wishes and dreams come true.
Love from all of us in Singapore and England
