Belated Birthday Celebration

A belated Birthday present for Juliane. Took her to watch a movie of her choice. I was surprised by it, not the theme but by the choice of language the movie was in! Guess what we watched! :D My mother who is a Taiwanese would be pleased to know there is hope.
Took Juliane to lunch at Shashlik
Must think twice next time before watching a teenage romance comedy with your teenage. Between the two of us, we used up a pack of tissue during the sob sob scenes. "Fall in Love at First Kiss", a Taiwanese remake of the Japanese manga "Itazura na Kiss" is a refreshing departure from my usual genre of movies. :)

Everything I Need - Aquaman Soundtrack - Skylar Grey [Official Video]

A really beautiful song.

Born on the wrong side of the ocean With all the tides against you You never thought you'd be much good for anyone But that's so far from the truth I know there's pain in your heart And you're covered in scars Wish you could see what I do 'Cause baby, everything you want Is everything I need You're everything to me Baby, every single part Is who you're meant to be 'Cause you were meant for me And you're everything I need You can say I'm wrong You can turn your back against me But I'm here to stay (I'm here to stay) Like the sea Should keep kissing the shoreline No matter how many times he pushes her away 'Cause baby, everything you want Is everything I need You're everything to me Baby, every single part Is who you're meant to be 'Cause you were meant for me And everything happens for a reason It's started passing in the skies I used to question who I was When now I see The answer's in your heart 'Cause baby, everything you want Is everything I need You're everything to me Baby, every single part Is who you're meant to be 'Cause you were meant for me And you're everything I need

Aquaman

Watching Aquaman brings me back to my childhood, just like Wonder Woman did! :) Thank you, DC! There's action, there's humuor, it's good fun entertainment.

Avengers: Infinity War

This is one movie that I must not miss on the big screen! I will find the time!

Star Wars: The Last Jedi

Besides the original Star Wars (Episodes III to VI, 1977 to 1983), I like this new Star Wars (Episode VIII) the best because of my childhood heroes. It is hard saying good-bye to Luke and Leia in this movie (it was good-bye to Han Solo in the last movie). It is the end of the chapter for the old guard of Star Wars. Thank you for the wonderful memories!

BB-8 (to Poe): *nervous beeps* translates to "I've got a bad feeling about this."
Poe (to BB-8): "Happy beeps here, buddy. Come on. We've pulled crazier stunts than this."
Leia (to Poe): "Just for the record, Commander Dameron, I'm with the droid on this."

Yoda (to Luke): "The greatest teacher, failure is."

Yoda (to Luke): "We are what they grow beyond. This is the true burden of all masters."

Holdo (to Leia): "May the Force be with you, always."

Leia (to Poe): "She is more interested in protecting the light than seeming like a hero."

Luke (to Leia): "No one's ever really gone."

Kylo Ren (to Rey): "Let the past die. Kill it, if you have to. That's the only way to become what you are meant to be."

Luke (to Ben Solo): "The rebellion is reborn today. The war is just beginning and I will not be the last Jedi."

Luke (to Ben Solo): "See you around, kid."

Rey (to Leia): ".. it wasn't sadness or pain. It was peace and purpose."

Movie Thoughts

Dying to watch a movie for the popcorn haha.

Movie Theater Snack

I only eat popcorn at the movies. It is a whole package. It is just not the same - eating popcorn when you are not at the movies. Yes, one of the bad movies I still remember is the Eight Legged Freaks haha. It was so bad that it was good!
You Are Popcorn
You probably like movies more than most people you know, and you are a bit of a film buff.
You have broad taste when it comes to film, and while you know a good amount about it, you definitely aren't a snob.

Some of your favorite movies are the goofiest ones. You love to laugh and kick back with a silly movie.
You're one of the few people who can appreciate a bad movie, especially if it's so bad it's good. And if it's terrible, at least there's popcorn.

Monster Movie

According to Blothings quiz "What Kind of Horror Movie are You?", I am a monster movie. Yes, I do enjoy my monster movies where there is action, destruction and death. As such, I LOVE the series like Alien, The Mummy, Predator, ... Ok, it's time to watch my Alien and The Mummy blurays again.
You Are a Monster Movie
Nothing makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand up like a menacing monster, whether that monster comes from a lab or outer space.
You like horror movies with a lot of action and destruction. Of course you want the good guys to win in the end... but not until many people die first.

You appreciate the creativity involved with imagining the ultimate monster. The idea of an evil that is capable of anything both delights and frights you.
Your favorite movies have a unique take on the definition of monster. You go for movies like Alien, the Mummy, and King Kong.

SOS by Sekai No Owari

This is the theme song for Attack on Titan: End of the World which is a live-action an adaptation of the manga and anime of the same name. Although the music video is a little strange to watch (no idea why one of the musicians is wearing a clown mask), I thought the lead singer's voice is pretty amazing. I still find it a little hard to believe it is a guy singing!

Rose from Titanic

I have watched Titanic more than five times at the cinema. Titanic is one of my favourite movies because of a certain someone. I still go weak in my knees when I watch his movies haha. :P What the heck, decided to have a bit of fun when I did this Blogthings quiz.
You Are Rose
You are very headstrong and stubborn. You can be seen as opinionated, but you're not going to apologize for being smart and savvy.
You follow your heart, even when everyone else gives you grief for it. You know what's best for you.

Streets of Fire - A Rock & Roll Fable

I was really surprised to see Streets of Fire showing on cable tv. It was a movie I watched when I was 13 years old lol. It brought a huge smile to my face as I recalled thinking that Michael Pare was pretty handsome haha. The movie wasn't that great but the songs are catchy though.

Missing

I realised that I have not seen a movie in ages. :( Missing the excitement when the lights go out, the movie starts, eating popcorn, ... :)
What's showing now?

Jurassic Park Theme by The Piano Guys

I didn't get the chance to watch the new Jurassic Park movie but at least I got to hear The Piano Guys' take of the movie theme. :)

Catch-Up Movie

I finally watched Divergent. :P Just in time for me to catch the second installment, Insurgent which is being released this coming Thursday, 19 March to continue the story. I enjoyed the songs at the end of the movie when the credits started rolling.

The Hanging Tree

This song just keeps playing in my mind after hearing it. It's not pop song catchy but its simplicity and the voice of Jennifer Lawrence gives it a certain endearing quality. :)

The Hobbit and The Lights

On Chrsitmas Eve, we had a great girls' afternoon/ night out (my mom, my girls, my friend and myself). It has been ages since we all watched a movie together. What is better than to watch an epic movie?! We watched The Hobbit at Lido. It was great! Time passed really quickly and we hardly registered that it was almost 3 hours for the movie. Somehow I wanted more! :) We all agreed it was the best movie of the year for us. It was emotional for me too as it is the last Middle Earth movie.Wonder when they will start the remake of The Lord of the Rings...about time haha :P

We walked home after our dinner in the cool weather (after the rain) and saw the pretty Christmas lights along Orchard Road.

Seeing Stars

I am seeing stars with Interstellar which is a sci-fiction adventure movie! Lol :) For the geek in me, it is a pretty awesome movie and all seems really believable and possible! :) Wormhole, black hole, space travel, time (fourth dimension), gravity (fifth dimension), ... Can be pretty mind-boggling with all the science/ physics talk but really entertaining as well. If you are a sci-fi fan, you shouldn't miss Interstellar!

My Birthday Celebration I

Time to relax and enjoy myself!
For the first part of my long weekend birthday celebration (and reward for Juliane for her efforts in her exams), Juliane and I went to watch Dracula Untold! Unfortunately, Marieann couldn't join us as she was out with her classmates.
Dracula Untold is bloody good, excuse the pun lol. I really enjoyed it - the action, and the story development. It wasn't as bloody or gory or scary as most would think with it being a movie about Dracula. Wonder if there is going to be a sequel... :)
