What Childhood Toy Am I?
| You Are a Doll |
![]() You tend to be very socially oriented. Other people matter to you, and you are very compassionate. You are naturally intuitive and understanding. You love people for who they are. It makes you feel valued to be needed. You like have others depending on you, and you're always happy to lend a hand. |
Strange though because when I was young, I never played with dolls but Lego blocks and Playmobil.

Childhood Memories: Viper vs Raider
"After the destruction of the Twelve Colonies of Mankind, the last major fighter carrier leads a makshift fugitive fleet on a desperate search for the legendary planet Earth."
I grew up watching the original Battlestar Galactica tv series and I loved it.
I couldn't contain my excitement when I saw the Colonial Viper and Cylon Raider in a toy shop. The toys sure brought back fond childhood memories.

Childhood Memories: Stationery
How many of you remember this?! I was so thrilled when I saw it. I couldn't help but keep smiling away. Do you know what it is? Lol.
I used it when I was in kindergarten and in lower primary. It is called gum but I think that word is seldom used now. It is what we call glue now but it is of a thicker consistency and there is a little spoon-like appliance which one can use to scoop out the gum. My girls saw the photo and thought it is old-fashion. So what if it is old fashion, it still does its job of sticking papers together. :)

Childhood Memories: Woh Hup zichar
Tonight, I am a child again. :) I had dinner with my parents at Woh Hup zichar, Hong Lim Market and Food Centre. My parents used to bring my younger brother and I to Woh Hup for dinner, especially the fish slice been hoon when we were young. It's a wonderful childhood memory for me, especially tucking into the small bowl of fried lard pieces! :P
What is missing tonight is my brother who has been in UK since his secondary school days. YM, come back to Singapore soon with your family and we can relive our childhood days. :)

Pinic
I totally agrees that a picnic is more about a state of mind. When I was young, my mother used to prepare my brother and I food so that we could have a picnic in our garden. It was really fun.
| You Are a City Picnic |
![]() You try to make every day just a little extra special. And you're totally the type to have an impromptu picnic for lunch. You like to have a fast paced life, and you enjoy novelty. A picnic appeals to you because you can try out many locations. You also like the idea of creating fun and interesting picnic lunches. You definitely will think outside the basket. Of all the types, you're the most likely to enjoy a picnic by yourself. You're happy to just people watch. You don't need much for a picnic - just some good food and an interesting spot. A picnic is more about a state of mind. |

Life's Simple Pleasures VI/ Childhood Memories
Simple pleasures of life - seeing the Milo van/truck at my counselling school!!! Can you imagine the happiness I felt?! I never ran so fast to the Milo van besides every Sports Day when I was in school. :P The Milo uncle even posed for me!
Somehow the tiny Milo cup makes one crave for Milo even more haha. I only drank two cups of Milo but I have seen the students going back for 3rd, 4th and xxth cups of Milo! I think my classmates and I used to do that too when we were students ourselves haha. :P
The Milo van/truck is definitely a fond childhood memory for me! How many of you remember it? :)

Childhood Memories: Hello Kitty
During my growing up years, Hello Kitty was the cute in-thing just like now with all those cute Japanese stuff. I didn't get to buy a lot of Hello Kitty merchandise because my mother is a practical lady and doesn't believe in buying something, e.g. soft toys that you have no useful need for. So most of my childhood Hello Kitty stuff were stationery. :)
I love Hello Kitty! :)

Vaccination Side Effects II
The side effects that Juliane suffered after taking her booster Tdap vaccine has subsided somewhat. There is less pain, the swelling has started to go down and the redness has subsided too. I think by tomorrow, the side effects would have disappeared. Thank goodness. The side effects definitely caused some concerns. :(

Vaccination Side Effects
Juliane took her booster shot of Tdap vaccine just this Saturday past. The vaccine is supposed to protect adolescents from tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis.
Today, her upper arm where the shot was given started swelling and there was pain and redness. The swelling felt very warm to the touch as well. :( I had Juliane applied the ice pack to her arm, hoping to reduce the redness and swelling.
Will check with the doc tomorrow if this is normal as Juliane has never experienced any side effects for her other vaccination shots.

Butter Cream Cakes
My colleagues/friends and I had butter cream cakes for snack.
One of them had never eaten such butter cream cakes before! :O Sigh. Generation gap.
Butter cream cakes are a fond childhood memory of mine. Nowadays, only the tradtional/ old school bakeries sell such butter cream cakes.

Comfort (Medicinal) Soup
I accidentally pulled my back again yesterday. It is the second time within 1.5 weeks! :( Either I am really clumsy or I am getting old. :( I worked from home as I didn't fancy taking the public transport with my back in this state. At lunch time, I was surprised by my mother. She cooked for me black chicken soup double-boiled with some herbs which are supposedly good for strengthening the back and bones.
The soup was a real comfort for me. Besides being tasty (no horrible, bitter herbal taste but rather light and refreshing), the soup brought back childhood memories for me. I was a very sickly child when young (falling ill at least once/ twice a month) and my mother used to double-boil all kinds of herbal soups for me, trying to build up my immunity and strength.
Thank you, Mama!

Chestnut
I don't know why but I always smile when I see chestnuts. Maybe because I used to have roasted chestnuts when I was young and it was always a special treat. :)

Childhood Memories: Sweets & Toys
Isetan is having Children's Day Celebration from 27 September till 9 October 2014.
It brings forth many happy memories of my childhood with its large display of sweets and toys of yesteryears! :)
I think our childhood of yesteryears are so much more hands-on, interactive and fun as compared to children of today lol. :)

Childhood Memories: Morinaga Milk Candy
Here is another one of my childhood memories: Morinaga Milk Candy. I used to have this when I went back to Taiwan annually as a child. In the early days, there was only the original - milk caramel flavour. Now there are different flavours such as green tea matcha, red bean, vanilla, black seasame, etc., and it is available in Singapore too. Despite the many flavours available, my favourite remains the original - milk caramel as it is deeply entrenched as part of my childhood memory after all. :)

Childhood Memories: Cream Cake
Another one of my childhood memories: cream cakes (which is old school now lol). But during my childhood, it is the only kind of fancy cakes that we have. I recall my mother used to buy such cakes from Robinsons as we lived in the Orchard area, on Devonshire Road. Yes, you heard right, I said Robinsons. Robinsons used to have a cafe when it was housed in The Specialists' Shopping Centre which has been torn down to make way for the new development.
Now you can still find such cream cakes in neighbourhood bakeries and they are very reasonably priced too. Occasionally I will indulge myself with a piece or two lol. :)
