National Library Talk - Four Conversations

I attended a talk at National Library Board (NLB) by Prof Root-Bernstein on "Creativity as an Essential Skill for Future-Readiness". I really enjoyed the talk. Prof Root-Bernstein was one of our Keynoters at recently successfully concluded RPIC 207 held at NIE.

Privileged

I feel privileged to have been able to listen to two assessment seminars/ talks by two important names in assessment. :) I have been so caught up with the mundane, sometimes brainless but time-consuming admin work that I have not been reading up on my research interest recently. I am really glad for the time-out to listen and learn of their insights about formative assessment and self-assessment. :)

I Love Talking about...

Relationships. Haha this is definitely an occupational hazard. :P As a psychologist and a counsellor, I am usually asking my counsellees about their relationships with family, with friends, with studies, ..., etc. I am often working with them to dissect and analyse their relationships and in doing so, I am trying to help my counsellees understand themselves better.

Oh yes, it helps a lot that I love to talk, especially in my line of work hahaha. :P

You Love to Talk About Relationships

You love to talk about people you know. You're not exactly a gossip - you just think a lot about your friends and family. You're likely to be completely up to date on what's going on in everyone's life. And when someone has good news, you make sure and share it. You also spend a fair amount of time dissecting relationships and analyzing people. You are always trying to better understand the people you're closest to. Of all the types, you are the most social. You have a lot of people to talk to and to talk about!

Talk II

I attended yet another talk today about Teacher Quality in the 21st Century at RELC. Being in the 21st century, there are new knowledge and new skills to be learnt, not just for students, for teachers too.

The talk, sad to say, did not tell us anything new. :( Oh well, at least the talk confirmed what most of us already knew and tells us that more needs to be done.

Talk

I attended a very interesting talk about Creativity and 21st Century Learning at my work place. I was the video woman lol. No lah, I was there for the talk first and helping my friend second to video the session. The presenter threw us some pretty interesting stuff to ponder about. The panel was most engaging too, throwing out pearls of wisdom of their own. I can't get the chocolate chip muffin example out of my head now lol. It's giving me food for thought lol. No pun intended haha :P

I really enjoyed the talk very much. I hope to attend more of such talks. :)

Gag Order

Thinking that I am on my way to recovery, I overdid the chatting last night. My throat was very sore when I woke up. I went to see my doctor in the morning. He gave me an MC for Monday and told me not to talk or shout for at least a day. I have been given a gag order.

Sigh. It was so difficult for me today. How not to shout when the girls are naughty?! I was like miming when trying to get them to stop whatever nonsense they were doing. Of course, they ended up laughing at me more than being scared of me. Just they wait till I can talk again...

ARGH!

I have been working for the last three hours on a proposal for a parents' talk. End of last week, my school asked if I could help to give a Parents' Talk on a certain topic. Although the topic is fairly new to me, I decided to help the school out and agreed to give the talk. I just can't resist accepting a challenge, lol. By agreeing to do the talk, I will learn more about the topic and it will also shake me out of my comfort zone. :)

While trying to write up the proposal, I was reading up too. Multitasking, lol. I was really pleased with what I have written and wanted to call it a night. However, when I tried to save, it refused to save and indicated there was an error. Oh well, never mind, I have still have the back up copy. But to my horror, even the back up copy was "corrupted" too. When I opened it, it was all gibberish! ARGH! Three hours of work down the drain. Sigh.

No choice, I have to start all over again. I will try to recall from memory what I have written. As a friend has previously mentioned, I have "an elephant's memory", lol. But I seriously hope I can still remember...
