What Grade should I teach?

With Teachers' Day drawing near, I took this "teaching" quiz.
I LAUGHED because I was teaching Fourth Grade or Primary 4 for most part of my teaching life. :P
You Should Teach Fourth Grade
You are a very intuitive person. You tend to immediately understand what drives a person and what a person needs.
You know how to challenge people and help them break through walls. You are inspiring to others.

You are giving and generous. You are willing to spend a lot of time with someone to help them achieve their goals.
You make people feel good about themselves. You build self-esteem effectively.

Surprise!

What a wonderful surprise to meet my SCGS 4P 1998 student, Yvette Leong who is also a fellow educator now!! It's always wonderful to know when one of my students has taken up teaching as a career. :)

Thanks for calling out to me! All the best for your teaching career. :) Keep in touch!

My Student's Wedding at The Sanctuary Barker Road Methodist Church

I am invited to my 1998 Primary 4 Prudence, Amanda Poo's wedding on this 15th day of October 2015.
It is a really different experience at Amanda's wedding to Tan Guo Rong. I have never laughed so hard at a church wedding to the point that I thought I was really rude. :P But the great humour from the wedding couple just cracked me up. Amanda, you still the same as you were when I taught you in Primary 4!
The bridesmaid, Orphelia is my 1997 3P student :)

Funniest thank you speeches I have ever heard from a wedding couple! :D

A cupcake as a thank you gift to all guests. I missed out on the bubble tea gift :P
Amanda, thank you so much for inviting me to witness this important milestone in your life. I think I must have done something right when I taught you way back in 1998! :P I am very happy for you. Wishing you and Guo Rong great Happiness and Love together! :)

老师

I never once thought after teaching in primary school that I would one day be teaching adults in an undergraduate course. I have been co-teaching with another colleague and taking turns to conduct lectures and tutorials. I must say I am enjoying it. I have also been quite tickled as the students (Chinese language teachers) have taken to addressing me as "老师" (Chinese word for teacher). :)

My Student's Wedding at Chijmes

On 8 August 2015 (8815), my Primary 4 Prudence 1998 student, Yen Ling invited me to be a witness at her beautiful wedding to Chen Heng Qing at Chijmes and the wedding lunch reception.
I left for Chijmes early as it was raining heavily and I didn't want to be late for the wedding ceremony at10:30am. I was really lucky to get a cab at the first call. :) The perks of being early - I arrived at 9:30am, just in time to watch my student, Yen Ling doing a rehearsal. I was also surprised to see two more of my students, Ingrid (4P 1998) and Ying Ying (3P 1997). I had some photo opportunities with my students as well as around the wedding venue.

Teacher-Student Meeting

I met up with two of my students from Primary 4 Prudence 1998 late this evening at 8:15pm, Tiong Bahru Bakery, Raffles City. It was arranged last minute as I happened to be on Facebook late Friday night when I read that Nicole Sze-to is going to be in Singapore for the weekend. Guess as their ex-teacher, they couldn't say no to meeting up haha.:P
Hot Chocolate and Apple Crumble (extremely sweet)
Nicole and Xue Ting, my 4P 1998 students! :)
It was fun catching with both Nicole and Wee Xue Ting over what has happened since I left SCGS and what they have been doing. We didn't part until close to 10pm. I hope to get to meet up with more of my students and catch up on what they are doing now. :)

"Teacher, teacher"

I was in school to meet with the key personnel to brief about our research project. While waiting (I was early) at the General Office, I was approached no less than three times by the students calling me "Teacher, teacher" and asking me for help. I had to redirect them to the GO staff.
Guess I still look very much like a teacher to students lol.

My Student's Wedding at Burkill Hall, Botanic Gardens

My girls and I were invited to my 1998 Primary 4 student's January wedding 2015 in mid May 2014. We have been really excited about it and even bought our dresses for the January wedding while holidaying/ shopping in Penang. We received our wedding invite in early December.
On 3 Jan 2015, my P4 student, Charissa invited me to be a witness at her beautiful wedding to Paul Chen held at Burkill Hall, Botanic Gardens.
The weather is beautiful, the ceremony is beautiful and the bride is beautiful!

Dinner was Peranakan/ local food which is a change from the usual fare. Quite delightful! :)

My girls are really happy to have attended and witnessed their first wedding and dressing up for the occasion. :) I am really happy for my student, Charissa that she has found the right man to accompany her in this life. Thank you, Charissa for inviting us. It is an occasion we will not forget anytime soon! I wish both you and Paul a wonderful and blissful life together!
PS. Coincidentally, Chrissa, as my student, was a witness at my wedding back in 2000! I invited my students (4Prudence girls from 1998, 1999, and 2000) to be my witnesses. :)
