Lucky Break

I received more good news. My amended dissertation has been accepted for my PhD Oral Examination! There won't be any change to the date of my oral examination which was confirmed earlier. :) Have to start reading my dissertation again to refresh my memory because I can't remember all 300 pages of it. :P
I knew it! Seeing the double rainbows really brought me luck! :)

Unexpected Surprise

I received an unexpected surprise today. I was informed this morning that my revised dissertation has passed my academic group's internal review and has been submitted to Graduate Studies for the final review. I was absolutely delighted to hear that. Now I wait... hopefully for news of when my oral defence will be.

Handed In!

I handed in my revised thesis today at 11.15am. Finally!! :)
Now it is a waiting game. I wait for news of when my oral defence will be.

Hiccup

Met with a hiccup in the process of my dissertation revision. :( Hope the difficulty would be resolved soon!

Feedback

Today, I received the examiners' reports on my dissertation. I didn't realise how nervous or scared I was. My hands were shaking when I received the sealed package of the examiners' reports and marked dissertation from my supervisor.

Both external examiners recommended that I be awarded the degree subject to minor corrections and the internal examiner recommended that I be awarded the degree subject to major amendments. Overall, it is good news. :) I have been given 6 months to make my final revision.

Submission

I have finally been given the approval to submit my dissertation for external examination!! My dissertation was with my supervisor and her Academic Group for internal review for a month. I was just getting hopeless when I received the good news!!
I am so happy that I can finally submit! :) :)

Relieved!

It is certainly a LOAD off my mind now that I have submitted my dissertation to my 1st supervisor for a last look. The other supervisor already feels that it is good enough to be submitted for external examination. :)
Now is the waiting for my 1st supervisor to nod her head.

End of the Journey?

I met with my supervisors today. They feel I need to do a bit more polishing and my dissertation will be ready for examination. They have set me the date for early January 2011.

I can't believe it. After working on my dissertation for so long, it feels really strange that my PhD journey is coming to an end soon. I actually feel a bit lost...

Handed In!

I feel happy and relieved when I handed in the latest version of my dissertation to both my supervisors this morning. Both are happy to see me finished with it. Hopefully, they are happy with this version and I can proceed to the next stage: send my dissertation for external examination!

All Done!

I have finally finished with my dissertation revision. I have added another section in my Introduction chapter, added in another chapter as well as revamped my final chapter. I printed out three copies of my dissertation and ring-bound them. Two copies will be on my supervisors' table come Monday. Wish me luck, LOTS OF LUCK. Lol. :)

The Climb

It's a slow and lonely climb working on my dissertation. There were times when I felt like giving up. But I pressed on for myself and also for my close friends. They have been most encouraging and I can't let them down. Somehow the climb is not so lonely now with my friends accompanying me.

Final Lap

I had my dissertation supervision with my supervisors today. There are still some revisions to be made to strengthen my dissertation. My co-sup believe that I am ready for external examination by early August. Only a month from now...

I don't know why but I am beginning to have self-doubt... Sigh, if only I have my co-supervisor's confidence.

Lost

I feel lost. I feel as if I have lost my sense of purpose. For a long time, my dissertation has been a part of my life, whether openly or nagging at the back of my head. Now that I have submitted to my supervisors for their (final) comments (I hope), I feel there is now a void. My friends and colleagues joked and said I could do more work now that I have more time on my hand. Haha. I guess they are right in a way. :)

HAPPY

Today is a very happy day for me.

I submitted my revised dissertation to my supervisors. Hopefully there will be minimal revision or changes after this and I can submit for external examination.

Today is also a special day for me. :)

Almost Done

Updated 31 May 2010 2:16am. I AM DONE!! :) I have finally completed the revision for my dissertation. :)

I am more than halfway through the revision of my last chapter. I am really on a roll here. I have been writing and revising last night (only had 3 hours of sleep) and for most part of today. Give me another couple of hours and I will be done.

On A Roll

I am on a roll now in terms of my writing. I have finished my 3rd revision for chapters 1 and 3. Going to start on my chapters 2 and 5 soon. I didn't feel tired despite having put in an all-nighter last night. I am going pull another all-nighter tonight and tomorrow night too.

What is urging me on is the thought that I want my grandmother to be proud of me, and of my achievements. Although she is still in a coma, I hope to be able to tell her that I will be graduating soon and I will bring honour to the family as the first PhD holder in the family. Thus, I have to finish the revision of my dissertation before I go back to Taiwan in mid June.

Revision - Last?

I am done with revising Chapters 1 and 3. But I am stuck with revising Chapter 2, my literature review. Don't know how to cut! It's all my hard work lol. Never mind, I still have another day to mull over it. :P
