Mother-Daughter Time

Since it is the last weekend before I fly off to Australia, I decided to spend some quality time with both my girls. I took them out as the weather was holding.

We took a slow walk to Tanglin Mall. Along the way, we looked at and talked about the plants, flowers and insects we saw. It was an impromptu mini Science lesson, lol.

I took them to Oomphatico's, Tanglin Mall. It is a new eating place. I have walked past it a few times but never had the chance to try it. I also like the decor so I decided to try it today with the girls. It will be a special treat for us. :)

The kids' menu is a brown paper bag which I thought is most unique and cute. There is also a creative space on the paper bag for kids to express themselves creatively. :) My girls were really taken with their menu/ paper bag/ drawing paper, lol. Oomphatico's specialises in healthy eating. There are gluten-free dishes. You could also ask for the vegetarian choice of certain dishes. Some of their homebrew thrist quenchers are sugar free. Ah, my kind of drinks! Lol. Oomphatico's dishes are mostly Western, but with some dishes influenced by Asian flavours, e.g. Thai, Japanese. I also realised Oomphatico's is frequented by more Caucasians than Asians. Maybe it is the kind of food it is serving.

The girls shared The Fish & The Chip & The Dip ($10.50). The portion was just nice. The girls finished everything on their plates.

I ordered The Farmer's Club ($14): sandwich with chicken, bacon, cheddar cheese, avocado and eggs. Even though I didn't have breakfast, I couldn't finish it alone. Marieann helped me to finish it. The chef didn't put all the ingredients together into the sandwich. The chicken and bacon were put into one half, while the eggs and avocado were put into the other half. It was refreshing to eat eggs and avocado together, felt very green and healthy after eating that, lol. The healthiness was semi undone when I attacked the other half of The Farmer's Club, the greasy bacon. YUM! Lol.

I tried their drink, Oomphaticolemoned ($5.50): raspberry and lemon drink. It came without sugar so it was sourish which suited me just fine. :) But you could ask for sugar if you need it.

The bill came in a little rectangular box with cover. The girls were intrigued with it. Actually, I was too. I didn't know whether to pass the waitress my credit card or to put it into the box, lol. My credit card and copy of the bill were later returned to me in the box.

After a leisurely lunch, we took a taxi to Paragon. We were very lucky as it started to rain when we got to Paragon. We shopped at Muji as I had to get the big sketch book which I use as a travel journal. Next, we adjourned to Isetan Scotts to get a few more things that I need for my trip. I think I should have gotten everything by now, lol.

I really enjoyed today. The girls did too. We had lots of fun. I hope I can do this more often with them. :P

PS. I think I know what a good friend would say, "Tsk, tsk, so young, already training to be tai-tais". Lol.
