Worry

I think I am most worried about Marieann when I am away. She will be having exams during the week I am away and the week immediately after I return. Somehow she is still not very concerned about exams. :S Not sure if that is good or bad. Good for her in the sense she is still not perturbed by the exam stress. Bad for me in the sense I am greatly stressed and I am not even the one taking the exams! Sigh, the kiasu parent syndrome rearing its ugly head in me again :(

Work from Home, Stay at Home

I decided to work from home today since I just came back yesterday from Phuket, Thailand which is one of the affected countries by H1N1 flu. Better be safe than sorry since our centre has plenty of projects with schools.

Already my girls' schools are anxious and have called me up. Juliane's pre-school requested that she be placed on Leave of Absence for 7 days which I can totally understand the pre-school's position. Marieann's school also asked if everyone in the family was feeling alright since our return from Phuket. I told the school not to worry and I would inform them if anything happens and that when Marieann returns to school next Monday, it would have been 7 days too.

So for the next few days, I will be monitoring my temperature as well as the girls' temperature.

Worries

Worry 1:
I had sessions with my P6 counsellees today. I was most worried for a few of them about their PSLE. I do not want to see anyone staying back to repeat P6. I do hope everyone will do well enough to go to secondary school.

Worry 2:
My PhD statistical analysis is giving me some problems. I don't agree with what I have been told. All the stats stuff that I have read, nothing has revealed it to be the way I was told. I think I will stick to my own way. After all, it is my PhD.

Worry 3:
I am leaving next Wednesday for Hong Kong and there is still so much to be done, especially for my Korean conference which is immediately after the Hong Kong trip. There are documents that I have to get ready and print out for the Korean trip. I only have 12 hours after I land in Singapore from Hong Kong and before I fly to Korea the next day. I don't think that is enough to do anything but sleep, lol. So that means the rush now to get things done. :(

Ok, I better stop worrying and start acting.

Worried Sick

Have you ever been worried about something or someone, sometimes to the point of being sick?

We all worry, fret, brood about something(s) or someone(s) to some degree at one point of time or another. It is our human nature. We are the only species on earth (so far but there could be some unknown species yet to be uncovered :P) who have the ability to think about the future. However, this thinking ahead ability is a double-edged sword. It is both an advantage as well as disadvantage - the realisation that things could go wrong and thus, worry or anxiety is born.

I am no exception. I have been worried sick about something(s) and someone(s) before. Today, actually, lol. I was really worried about my dissertation. I was really worried about a good friend. My worries had stemmed from my feeling of vulnerability and my sense of helplessness. Glad to inform all, everything is fine now. I am very much relieved and smiling again.

But maybe because I was so highly strung with worry today, even when the "fight" response was deactivated, it was too late. I have already built up too much worry that I have got a headache now :(. In other words, I was literally worried sick. :P Definitely can't do much tonight. I guess I will have to sleep early tonight. Nothing like a good night's sleep to restore my energy, lol. :)
