Touched

It was CA week (continuous assessments for P3-5 and prelims for P6) in school last week so I did not see my counsellees. When I was in school today, those counsellees who weren't on my schedule today still turned up at my room to inform me of their results. I was really touched that they wanted to share with me their happiness (those who improved) and their sadness (those who didn't do as well). I encouraged all to continue to work hard for their coming Semestral Assessment 2/ PSLE.

My dear counsellees, have a good break next week: get refreshed and recharged for Term 4. Don't forget to revise your work too. :)

Touched

I am really touched by my colleagues' and friends' concerns and gestures towards me over my grandmother's passing.

Thank you, everyone. I am really appreciative of your concerns and gestures. Don't worry about me, I will be fine.

Appreciation II

Today, I received yet another show of appreciation.

I was counselling in school. At one of the sessions, the HOD PC came by and asked me to step outside the room for a while. Thinking she might have a new case or some information to share about one of the counsellees, I hurried out. To my surprise, she handed me a bar of chocolate and a laminated paper covered with students' writing. It is my Teachers' Day gift from my counsellees!

When I looked at the paper in between sessions, I am really touched by what the girls have written! Their show of appreciation, even if it is just in a few lines of words, is reward enough for me! For the whole day, I am really happy that I have been able to do something for these girls, and that they know that I am trying my best to help them. :) This is the joy of counselling!

Here is what some of them have written:

"Thanks for listening to me and giving me advice :)"
"Thanks for counselling me. I have learnt a lot from you."
"Happy Teachers' Day! Thanks for helping me to be a better person! You are the best counsellor! :)"
"Happy Teachers' Day! Thank you so much."
"Happy Teachers' Day! I love you!"

Thank you, Girls for your lovely words of appreciation. I will treasure them for a long time to come. :)

I'm Touched.

Yesterday, I was touched by three events. I will talk about two of the events here, the third event will be a separate post.

Two of which are about my former students. I met two of my former students within the hour, within the same day! How fortunate can I be? I haven't met any of them since I left SCGS in 2000 and went back once in 2002.

I met Natalie Ngoi at Holland Village yesterday afternoon. I wouldn't have recognised her if she didn't call/ stop me! Well, not that she changed a lot but I kept forgetting my 4P girls are no longer the 10 year old girls that I taught but 19 year old young ladies! Sorry, girls. :P It was so wonderful to see her! I had to stifle a scream, after all I was her teacher before, must behave with decorum, hahaha.

When I returned home later, I saw a post on my Facebook. Another former student, Wee Xue Ting has written to me. She saw me when I was leaving my place for Holland Village! I thought she looked familiar but didn't call her. She didn't dare to call me too in case I wasn't Ms Wong, lol. It would have been so fun. I am sure she will call me the next time she is in the area, hahaha. But it was just as good that we conversed back and fro via Facebook yesterday. Lol.

I will definitely keep in touch with my former students. I am really touched that my students still remember me and perhaps like me enough to call me when they see me on the street, on the road, in the mall. Oh yes, thanks for telling me that I still look exactly the same as when I taught you girls! =) A real big compliment, lol. :P
