Distraction

I went to the library today. I have some books to return.

Sigh. Still no sign of the graphic novel: Buffy the Vampire Slayer Vol 2. I hope it comes out soon. I managed to borrow the graphic novels: The New Fantastic Four, Ms Marvel, Outsiders and Annihilation Book 1. I borrowed another novel by Tess Gerritsen called The Mephisto Club. It sounds thrilling. I also got another book, The Last Templar by Raymond Khoury. It also looks interesting. I like stories that have action, history, and mystery running through them. :)

These will be nice distraction from my writing lol. :P

Library

I haven't been to the library for a while now. Thought it was time to read my graphic novels again, especially my Buffy. :)

I went to the library after my counselling. I managed to find a few graphic novels that are interesting to me - New Avengers, Fantastic Four, Thunderbolts, Silver Surfer, Squadron Supreme but no new volume of Buffy. Maybe the next trip? I also manged to find a book called Vanish by one of my favourite authors, Tess Gerritsen who is a crime writer. Just before I checked out the books, I saw, by chance, a book called Amara by Richard Laymon. I have read a few of his books and he is an interesting writer. But I am still unsure if I would classify him as one of my favourite authors. That is, until I saw Amara today. I think with this book, he might just make into my list of favourite authors, lol. We shall see. :)

Ok, going to read Amara now. :)

Young Avengers and X-Men

I have started reading graphic novels again. My latest read are Young Avengers: Sidekicks and Family Matters, which follows after Avengers Disassembled. Can't wait to read the next issue of Young Avengers, that is, if I am lucky to find it in the library, lol.

I also read X-Men. Happened to see this on Blogthings. So which X-Men am I?

Graphic novels

Civil War series

Good friend passed me the Civil War series graphic novels to read, The Road to Civil War, Civil War and New Avengers 5: Civil War.

This series make very interesting reading! It is about superheroes being involved in a civil war against other superheroes. It is basically an idea taken from that of the American Civil War. The superheroes led by Captain America opposed the Super Human Registration Act which was supported by Iron Man and his band of superheroes. The series tackled many issues such as "slavery" (in a way), human rights (in this sense, super human rights), friendship, family, government. There is more to this Civil War series than just very nice graphics. The story is very compelling with the real-life issues that it tackles.

There are several graphic novels in this series. Check it out at The Trade Paperback List for the synopsis of the various Civil War series graphic novels. You can borrow from the library too if you don't fancy buying them. But one downside, the library doesn't have all the series on hand. May need to wait. Lol.

Wolverine: Origin

This graphic novel talked about (as the title already suggested) the beginnings of Wolverine's earliest struggle against his enemies and the beast within himself. The story is really interesting and unexpected. It helps to explain some things about Wolverine. The graphics is, of course, very nice. I really like this style of drawing. Lol.
