Life's Simple Pleasures 2016

After a stressful week, there's nothing more pleasurable than spending some quality time with my daughters! My girls and I started with having Korean desserts, Bingsu at Orchard Central, together with Brenda, Marieann's classmate.

After the indulgent Bingsu, we went shopping or rather I followed the girls while they shopped at Somerset 313, and Scape.

We had an early dinner at Astons. Brenda went home soon after while we ended off the day with another Korean dessert, Teh Gah Dai ice cream from Honey Creme before making our way home too. :)

My feet are really tired from following my girls around but the time spent with my girls and the memories are priceless! :)

Fruit Paradise

Craving for desserts, we went in search of some after dinner. It was literally a "roadside conference" in the car before we could decide where we wanted to go for dessert. In the end, it was Fruit Paradise at Orchard Central that won lol.
We each had the $9.80 tart set (a slice of tart with tea/coffee/soft drink). Marieann had the Mango Banana tart, Juliane the Chocolate Banana tart, I the Seasonal Fruit tart and the girls' father had the Coffee Pear tart. The coffee pear tart was quite light and refreshing.

Zen Q Desserts

My colleague and I decided to try out another eating place for lunch, Yew Tee Point. I discovered a dessert stall called Zen Q Desserts. I was really excited because it is selling traditional Taiwanese desserts!! Including their Q balls which Marieann loves ever since we had Q balls desserts in Jiou Fen. :)

I love their Honey Apple Vinegar drink which I would add aloe vera so that it is sweet, sour and with bite. :) Their Milk Tea with Pudding is nice too. All their milk tea drinks can have the sugar level adjusted which is good for people like me. :P I absolutely adore their Zen Q Glass Jelly dessert that comes with pearls, Q balls, glass noodles and glass jelly. Yummy. :) I will upload photos of the desserts next time. I keep forgetting to take photos of the desserts before eating them lol. :P

Last Minute Shopping

This is the last weekend to get Christmas stuff lol. There sure were A LOT of people at the malls. Juliane and I were window shopping at both Paragon and Centrepoint in the late morning.

After dinner, we went to Ikea because I needed to get some frames. Again, there were many people. The queues were really long at the cashiers. :( After that, we had desserts at Xin Wang Hong Kong Cafe, Anchorpoint. The girls shared a Mango Pomelo Cream while I tried the Triple Snow Ice. I thought the girls' dessert was much nicer, mine tasted kind of weird, the 3 favours (mango, strawberry and red bean) didn't really blend well together. :(

Perfect Day...

for sleeping, haha. It has been raining the whole day.

I just didn't feel like moving much. I was trying to read some articles but ended up falling asleep lol. :P Blame it on the weather. In the afternoon, I decided I have had enough of sleep and time to stretch my legs.

We went to Tiong Bahru Plaza to get school shoes for Marieann and I wanted to buy her some stationary from Popular. Unfortunately I forgot to bring my Popular card. I will have to get the stationary another day. Before going home, we had some desserts at the Basement - Milk Pudding, Mango Pudding, Almond Tea with Tang Yuan and Peanut Soup. I love the milk pudding I had, rich with the taste of milk and not very sweet. :)

Craving for Sweets

Tonight, I had a sudden craving for sweets!! Since going sugar-free, there is hardly any sweet stuff at home. I just couldn't take it any more. I desperately need something sweet!

The girls' father came home, had his dinner and off we went to Holland Village. There would be something at HV that will appease my craving, lol.

We tried 2am: desserts. It is a place more for yuppies, couples, but not really for families with young children. They either had seating at usually high tables or sofa seating. But you had to remove your shoes to sit on the sofa because the sofa is deep and once seated, your feet would be the only part of your limbs that are sticking out of the sofa. Definitely no mini or micro mini-skirts for ladies, lol.

We ordered two desserts to share:
Twix ($13): brunt caramel mousse, peanut crumble, home-made valrhona chocolate ice-cream. The mousse was fantastic, but maybe it's because I love caramel, lol. It went really well with the peanut crumble which gave it extra crunch, literally too, lol. The ice cream, on the other hand, I thought wasn't necessary, it didn't really add value to the mousse.


Apple Pudding ($13): apple crumble, caramel beer sauce, cinnamon spice ice-cream. It wasn't the usual apple crumble for the pastry was moist, more akin to a christmas pudding kind of apple crumble. The caramel beer sauce was poured over the apple crumble. It was nice enough but nothing to shout about. I like the cinnamon spice ice cream though. It's really exotic and spicy in taste and I think it saved the apple crumble.


Overall, I think 2am: desserts is kind of pricey for desserts, even for a tai-tai wannabe like me, lol. The portions were fairly small too, having one dessert is just not enough to satisfy a dessert lover like me. :P

After the desserts, we popped into The Marmalade Pantry, a few doors away to see if we could still get any cupcakes. But they were sold out. The manager, who has become our friend now, gave the girls a piece of tea cake to try instead, without charge. That was really nice of her. :)

We did a little grocery shopping at Cold Storage such as getting my Almond Soy Milk, the girls' Chocolate milk, etc, before returning home.
