Wild Game at Brotzeit
It has been a while since we last went to Vivocity. We decided to have lunch at Brotzeit, German Bier Bar & Restaurant. The current promotion is Wild Game Season. The parents tried the Wildragout ($38.50), game stew from deer and wild boar served with buttered spatzle, red cabbage and bacon wrapped fine beans. Marieann had the Pork Cheese Sausages ($18.50) served with potato salad and mashed potato and Juliane had the mini Pork Cheese Sausages. I really liked the wildragout. The meat was tender and the gravy went really well with the red cabbage and spatzle. :) Yum yum!

Brotzeit Revisited
We went to Brotzeit, Vivo City at Marieann's request.
The girls shared a Kartoffelsalat (German Potato Salad, $5.80) and a Hendlbrust (Mini chicken breast fillets, $10.50). (Pictures of dishes taken and published in previous posts aobut visits to Brotzeit.)
The girls' father had a Jagerschnitzel ($23): Grilled escalope of pork with chantarelle and cepes sauce with mashed Potato. The pork was too dry and tough but the sauce was creamy and delicious.
I had a Bauern Cordon ($23): Escalope of pork stuffed with bacon, onions, mushrooms, parsley and melted cheese which came with Roasted Potato. Heaven! :) The pork with its stuffings went very well together, and surprisingly it was neither too oily nor too rich.
After lunch, we went to Haagen Dazs for ice cream. :)

Gathering at Brotzeit German Bier Bar & Restaurant
It has been a while since we last met with Juliane's god family and our mutual friend, KL. Since I am in the clear (from flu symptoms of any kind), it would be nice to meet up over a hearty meal. :)
We met for lunch at Brotzeit, Vivocity.
The girls had Mckkies breakfast earlier so they were still full. Marieann had a Soup of the Day: German Potato Soup ($8.50) and Juliane had a Potato Salad ($5.80). I had a taste of both the soup and salad and they were yummy! :) I simply love potato lol. :P
I ordered Geselchtes ($21.50): smoked pork loin served with mashed potato and sauerkraut. The pork loin which were thick slices of ham was only okay. :( At least, the mashed potato and sauerkraut had more bite and flavour.
The girls' father had Narurschnitzel vom Huhn ($20.50): grilled chicken breast on mashed potato with sour cream sauce and mixed salad.
Juliane's godmother and godbrother shared a Platter for 2 - Gebackenes ($32.50): crispy prawns, dory, chicken fingers and potato wedges.
KL had Currywurst ($16.50): German pork and curry sausages with mashed potato and sauerkraut.
After food, the adults chatted while the kids played with one another. We only left Brotzeit around 2:30pm.

German Fare at Brotzeit
We went to Vivocity for lunch. After looking at the various restaurants on the 1st level, we settled on Brotzeit again. I miss eating German sausages. Lol.
Marieann had her Kaiseschmarren ($8.90) again - shredded pancakes with raisins soaked in rum, drizzled with custard and sprinkled with icing sugar, together with a glass of plum sauce. Sweet heaven. :P This is supposed to be a dessert but she wanted it as a main, lol. At least, she had a side dish of mashed potatoes to fill her up too.
Juliane had her Huhnerhaxn ($9.50) again - breaded chicken strips with three different sauces to dip into. Both the pics and reviews of Kariseschmarren and Huhnerhaxn can be found in my 8 December 2007 blog post.
The girls' father had a Bauernomelette ($13.50) - omelette with ham, wild mushrooms and onions served with mixed salad and sour cream. The taste was nice, and its portion enough for lunch.
I had Nurnberger ($16.50) - pork bratwurst coarse on mashed potatoes and sauerkraut. Told you, I needed my sausages, lol. The mustard sauces complimented the pork bratwurst very well. The mashed potatoes was beautifully done too, smooth with the rich taste of butter and milk.
After our German lunch, we took a walk around. I looked into a shop but bought nothing. See, I do keep my money, haha. Juliane complained about her shoes being tight so we took her to the kiddy shoe shop that we frequent. Both girls got themselves a new pair of shoes.
After getting the girls' shoes, we had a rest at Haagen-Dazs. It was still a warm day, despite a short respite in the hot weather. (It rained for a little while at Vivocity.) The girls had their ice cream in waffle cones while I had a Berry Cool ($13.90) - raspberry sorbet blended with lemonade and crushed ice, topped with a scoop of strawberry ice cream. It was sourish, sweet, creamy and COLD. Good for a warm day, lol.
We headed for home after our rest. Need to wind down and prepare for tomorrow - school and work. :)

German Lunch (Again!) at Brotzeit
Yup, we went back to Brotzeit, Vivocity again for lunch. Haha. Last Saturday, when we were there, we didn't order the pork knuckle. So this week, we decided to go back to try out the dish.
The girls' father ordered the pork knuckle ($32.90) which came with potato salad and sauerkraut. The pork knuckle was roasted to perfection! The crackling was really crispy and the fat underneath it was, well, fatty and chewy. Together, the crackling and the fat made the most perfect combination! One bite, you think you are in heaven. The pork itself was most tender and juicy. Ah... think of the salad scene from " When Harry met Sally", but substitute it with pork knuckle instead, lol. The pork knuckle was simply perfect and went really well with sauerkraut and the potato salad (which was came with vinegar dressing). Still lua nua-ing just thinking about it. The portion was quite big too, no problem sharing it with two persons, especially if one of them is a small eater. :)
I thought I better order something lighter since there is going to be the pork knuckle. I had Petersfisch ($19.90): grilled Atlantic dory fillet topped with garlic butter, served with wild mushroom sauce and potato wedges. The dory was nicely grilled and tasted good with the garlic butter melting over it, and combined it with the mushroom sauce (which was almost as good as being a side dish on its own), perfection. The girls shared my dory. Not bad, they know good food when they see it, lol.
For the girls, they shared the chicken fingers ($9.90) again and Tagessuppe ($7.90): Soup of the day Mushroom. The mushroom soup was really good - rich, of a thick consistency and full of mushroom bits. (No picture of chicken fingers as it was posted on 8 December 2007.)
We were so full at the end of the meal that we didn't even have room for dessert which was very, very RARE for us, lol. It meant that the lunch was really great. :)
We had a walk around Vivocity to work off the heavy lunch we had. We had tea at Pacific Coffee Company. The girls had their vanilla and blueberry gelato and their father, a mango juice. I tried out the Ginger Ginseng tea since I already had Mint tea at Brotzeit. Hmm, tasted the ginger but not much of ginseng, haha. We also shared an Apple Crumble. Yes, we did have our sweets in the end, lol.

German Lunch at Brotzeit
We went to Vivocity for lunch. Before that, we went to Esprit because there is 20% off for Esprit card holders, lol. Gosh, I think I started the girls young on shopping, lol. The girls actually picked out the outfits that they wanted to try. In the end, we each had 4 outfits to try out in the fitting rooms. Between the three of us, we settled on 8 outfits, all paid for by the girls' father, haha. Consider it early Christmas presents?! Lol.
We needed to have a quick lunch because Marieann had to attend a birthday party at 2pm. We wanted to go to our favourite haunt, Carduroy Cafe but it was closed for a private party. We settled on Brotzeit, German Bier Bar & Restaurant which was a few doors away.
We ordered a Platter for 2 ($29.90): Würstelplatte - authentic sausage platter with spicy chicken sausage, chicken and pork cheese cracker sausages, weisswurst sausage and garlic sausage with sauerkraut, horseradish and mustard. The portion was just right for two adults. The sausages were really nice and tasty, not too oily, and went really well with the mustard. I personally preferred the sweet mustard while the girls' father preferred the hot mustard.
Marieann was craving for pancakes so she had Kaiserschmarren ($9.50) from the Desserts! It was shredded pancake with plum sauce which came separate in a wine glass. The pancake is different from the usual pancake we are used to. It is like potato dumpling but made from flour. No, it tasted good, just with the custard sauce and icing sugar dribbled over the pancake. Together with the plum sauce, it was fantastic. :) Ok, it's me here with my sweet tooth, lol.
Juliane had her Hühnerhavn ($9.50): chicken fingers from the Finger food. I was surprised as it was actually breaded chicken strips, not the usual processed chicken meat product. Am really impressed and the girls both liked it. (Yes, Juliane shared some chicken fingers with Marieann.)
We also ordered a side dish: Brotkorb - basket of bread ($5.80) which went well on its own with butter, and with the sausages and sauerkraut, lol.
It was a good and sumptuous lunch. We were all smiles at the end of it!
