Noisy Serenity Christmas Dinner

Merry Christmas!

Busy with spring cleaning for most part of the day, we could only find time to go for Christmas dinner. We took a chance as we didn't make any reservation for Christmas dinner, deciding to go with the flow. We went to Serenity Spanish Bar & Restaurant at Vivocity and we were lucky to get a table. :) Unfortunately, we were seated in front of the stage where live entertainment was performing. So it was kind of noisy.

We ordered the Coca de Quesos (flat bread with cheese), Tortilla Espanola (Spanish omelette with potato and onion), Crema de Marisco (Seafood cream soup with mussel, prawn, dory and squid rings), and Suckling Pig, Turkey and Ham Platter for 2-3 Pax.

It looked kind of miserable, considering its price ($128++) but the suckling pig was good!

We were quite full after our Christmas dinner but there is always room for dessert lol. We packed desserts to go from Hong Kong Honeymoon Dessert. :)

Christmas Day

Merry Christmas!

We decided to try something different for Christmas dinner. We went to Imperial Treasure Steamboat Restaurant, TripleOne Somerset. The girls were excited about having steamboat. What I really like was the different soups that one could choose to cook the food in. We went for the traditional pork bone soup and healthy chicken soup. Overall, it was a very healthy dinner. :)

The different kinds of condiment we could choose to dip our food in

New Year's Eve Dinner

I was supposed to put up this post before the New Year greetings post but was too full to do anything, lol. Anyway, here is it now, a day later. :)

We had our New Year's Eve dinner at Carousel, Royal Plaza on Scotts Hotel. It was $88 per adult and $50 per child (5 - 12 years old). We arrived around 7:05pm. The girls were really excited with the party hats, the party masks, etc. I think those things attracted their attention more than the food whereas I was more interested in taking photos of the food, hahaha.

There were Salad bar, Sushi bar (sushi, sashimi, cold soba, chawanmushi), Seafood counter (lobsters, spanner crabs, crayfish, mussels, scallops, oysters, etc), Asian buffet counter (Chinese, Malay, and Thai dishes), Western buffet counter, Pasta counter, Roast counter (turkey, beef, roasted potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, roasted carrots, etc) and the indulgent dessert counter (cakes, puddings, chocolate fondue, fruits, ice cream, etc). Some highlights of the buffet, lol.

We took our time having dinner. For once, the girls were really cooperative and let us eat in peace, lol. I think, like me, they were also most fascinated with the dessert counter, lol. But we put our foot down, they have got to have hot food first before having their desserts. Here are some of the delicious food that I had.

The seafood was succulent, tender and fresh! They were tasty on their own without the need of any sauces.

Mediterranean Seafood Broth (on the left) and Crab Bisque (on the right). I preferred the bisque, it's more tasty and aromatic.

The various salad and cold cuts: foie gras, shrimp salad, mussel salad, etc.

Western: roast turkey, Yorkshire pudding, various roasted vegetables, seafood in garlic sauce, etc.

Asian: slipper lobster in black pepper sauce, duck in green curry, scallops and asparagus in XO sauce, braised shark's fin soup.

Desserts: various cakes and puddings (chocolate pudding, bread & butter pudding, pineapple crumble, crepe, etc). Most sinfully sweet. :P

Before, during and after the dinner, we managed to take some photos on this last day of 2007.

We finished dinner around 10:30pm and we went for a drive along Orchard Road for the girls to see the fairy light decorations. The girls were pretty enthralled with all the pretty lights. Unfortunately, I couldn't get good photos of the fairy lights from within the moving car. :P Maybe before they take the lights down, I should walk along Orchard Road to get the best photos, lol.

Christmas Dinner (Real Early, lol)

Tonight is the Christmas Dinner hosted by the girls' father's company at The Line, Shangri-La Hotel. There were about 28 of us, including children and spouses. It was buffet dinner at The Line. It has various open-concept kitchen stations serving different cuisines/ food: Seafood (fresh), Salad, Japanese, Western, Chinese, Indian, Local, Dessert, Ice Cream, and Crepes. The selection of food was pretty good and wide. The most popular stations would be that of seafood and Japanese, and I think, Dessert! :) Here are some photos of the stations, mostly dessert, lol. :P

I really enjoyed the Seafood and Western, especially the Yorkshire Potato Pudding, the potato gnochi and ravioli, all creamy and sinful stuff. Lol. Of course, not forgetting the desserts, glorious desserts!! Don't worry, I didn't eat everything by myself, I shared. Ain't I nice? Hahaha.

I also ordered two different kind of lemonade. (Yes, yes, I know, my sugar level is going to hit the roof, lol). The first was Citrus Mint Lemonade, a real refreshing drink and the second was Chamomile Vanilla Lemonade. While the first lemonade wasn't so sweet and has a minty taste (which I like), the second has a unique aftertaste of vanilla and chamomile which made it interesting but it was a tad too sweet. I really can't decide which one I liked better. :P

After dinner, there was gift exchanging. Way before tonight's dinner, each staff had to draw a name and to get that person a gift that starts with that person's name! It was a rather interesting and fun way of getting someone his/ her gift. You can imagine the laughter that came about because of the gifts received. :) The girls' father got himself a clip-on light (for reading) and I got a HUGE bottle of Jelly Beans!! Yes, my kind of gift. Lol.

The dinner ended close to 11pm and the girls' father gave two of his bosses a lift to their hotel and gave his colleague, Lia a lift home. I enjoyed this company dinner very much. It is many times better than the one I attended last year where the atmosphere was kinda tense and stiff all because of a particular person. But this year, it is FUN, livelier and much cosier. =D
