Noone's Seedling

My seedlings all died but in their place grew a single seedling, far taller than any of the previous seedlings. Apparently my mother had been sunning some chillies and one of the seeds had fallen into my makeshift pot. 

This brings to mind the Chinese proverb "有心栽花花不长,无心插柳柳成荫" which means "Well laid plans may fail and success may come when you least expect it".
