Day 2 Penang 2014: A) Lost in Georgetown

We woke up to a bright and beautiful morning. We couldn't wait to start our adventure for today. It was almost 9am when we went for our breakfast and the cafe was crowded. :) It seems like Noordin Mews is popular. All breakfast sets come with fresh fruits, mixed fruit juice and tea/coffee. We each chose a different breakfast main from the menu. We aimed to try a different breakfast dish every morning. :)

Juliane's Egg Florentine
Marieann's Hot Cakes with egg
My Classic Egg with Toast (love the butter and jam in the tea cups!)
After breakfast, we consulted another friendly front-desk staff, Daisy on how to get to the street market on Beach Street. Really glad that I consulted her for she told me about another street market at Armenian Street, a little closer to us lol. :)
Armed with my maps, the girls and I set out for our adventure around Georgetown. :) Within 10 minutes, I found our first Penang street art/ wrought-iron caricature at Lorong Prangin by accident! Lol. After our first street art, I found myself in a stinky situation. Yup, stinky situation. I accidentally stepped on dog poo while telling the girls to watch out for dog poo. The girls couldn't stop laughing and didn't want to come near me. 10 minutes later, after a pack of wet tissues and a pack of tissue paper, I rid myself of the stinky situation and we could once again go on our adventure. However, I was so disorientated by the small lanes and side roads that I soon became lost. Haha. Map reading has never been my strong suit! Don't tell the girls. :P But after a while, I think they suspected that I was lost lol. My saving grace was I found more street art while being lost. The street art/ wrought-iron caricatures became my excuse, when my girls asked if I was lost, that I was trying to bring my girls to see them lol. :P (See below post on Penang Street Art and Shops)
We finally found Armenian Street, simply by following the crowd haha. :P There was a street market going on as well as some interesting shops selling handicrafts, things from my childhood days, souvenirs, clothes, and many more along Armenian Street, Cannon Street, etc. :) (See below post on Penang Street Art and Shops) The girls also had henna painting done on their hands. We spent so much time in those shops (and being lost) that we never made it to the Beach St Street Market. :P Never mind, we will come back to Penang again for it! :)
It was close to 1pm when we decided to settle for lunch. It was by pure luck that I found one of the cafes that I have shortlisted to visit when in Penang! :P We went to Kopi C cafe of China House along Beach Street. I wanted to go there mainly because of Beach Street Bakery within Kopi C! Beach Street Bakery offers 40 different kinds of cakes each day and those are mouth-watering cakes! :)
Mint & Lime with Cranberry, Passionfruit Banana Milkshake: Refreshing!
Cakes and more cakes!
Chicken & Mushroom Pie
Spaghetti with grilled chicken (customised order)
Passionfruit with Coconut Butter, Lemon Curd Layer Cake :D

After lunch, we walked a little further along Beach Street to Coffee on the Table cafe. Another cafe which I shortlisted to visit. It was a treat for the girls as well for all the unnecessary walking (while being lost) today haha. :P This cafe specialises in 3d latte art. The girls were intrigued with their 3D latte art on their hot chocolates. It took them a while before they could bear to drink their chocolate! :)

A bear popping out of a heart from Chocolate Milk
What bored kids do while waiting for their hot chocolates
We slowly made our way back to Noordin Mews, following along the main road, Beach Street so that I don't get lost again lol. It took almost an hour to get back to Noordin Mews. No, we didn't get lost but we found a few more street art which side-tracked us from getting back sooner.
By 5pm (and within 10 minutes of getting back to the hotel), the girls were in the pool cooling down. :) I have never seen them moved so fast lol.
An hour later, we were back in our room relaxing away. While I was downloading photos, both Marieann and Juliane fell asleep! Well, they did have a good workout today with all the walking and swimming. :)
Today's shopping :)
Here are some photos of heritage buildings in Georgetown.

The wrong Khoos (the girls' Khoo is without the "ear")
Lebuh Acheh Mosque
Central Fire Station
Since the hotel cafe only serves breakfast and drinks for the rest of the day, we went to the street food stalls located on the street behind our hotel which only open at night. Before we left, the staff told us that we could bring our food back to eat at the cafe, not a problem at all. We packed the food back to the hotel as it started to drizzle and the staff very kindly helped us to unpack our food! Great service! :) We really enjoyed the food. :)
Our dinner: Fried Oyster, Fried Koay Teow, Lor Bak, Popiah
While we were having dinner, our beds were turned down. We found a different good night snack and note on our beds when we returned to our rooms. :) We love surprises! :)
9 Nov 2014 turn down snack: Coconut Dodol
We found out that the tv cable network was down and the technician could only come by the next morning. The staff was really apologetic and offered my girls some board games to play with to pass the time. They even offered to play hide-and-seek with my girls! :)
Playing chess: I didn't realise my girls are good at chess :P
Tomorrow we are off to visit Penang Hill, Penang Butterfly Farm, Georgetown attractions and more Street Art!
