Hong Kong Afternoon Tea and The Peak

It is Day 3 of our Hong Kong trip.

***
Today we bid farewell to Disneyland Hotel. We checked out at 11:30am after our breakfast and after the girls had a try at the maze in the garden of Disneyland Hotel. They also managed to take 2 more photos with Mulan and Cruella De Vil, lol. Oh yes, there was one more purchase squeezed in from the Disney shop located at the hotel, haha. :)

We arrived at Hotel Panorama, Kowloon around 12pm. The room decor is modern and not too bad, if we don't compare with our experience at Disneyland Hotel, lol. :P The girls' father wanted to go for a walk the area before we proceed to Afternoon Tea at The Peninsular. But I was just too tired and asked instead that we stay at the hotel so that I can have a rest before we go out again. I had a short nap and I felt much more refreshed.

We left around 2pm for The Peninsular. The afternoon tea (for 2 pax HK$398) was not too bad. It is like the afternoon tea at The Regent in Singapore with a selection of finger sandwiches, savoury pastry, quiche, mini French pastry, fruit tart, tea cake, chocolate tartlet, truffle, green tea tiramisu, raisin scones, Devonshire clotted cream, strawberry jam and tea from The Peninuslar Tea Collection. The girls shared with us and we ordered an extra of Assorted finger sandwiches (HK$132).

After tea (about 4pm), we walked around a little and took a train to Central before walking a short distance to The Peak Tram. We took the tram up to The Peak Tower. I thought the view would have been great if Hong Kong isn't perpertually shrouded in a veil of smog/ smoke(?!). Since I arrived in Kowloon, I have been sneezing a lot more because I am allergic to dust and pollutants. :(

We decided to have dinner first as it was close to 6pm and after dinner, it is just nice to see the Hong Kong's night view from the Sky Terrace We went to Bubba Gump for dinner. Yar, it is inspired by the movie Forrest Gump. :) I always like that movie. It has plenty of sayings around the restaurant from the movie, e.g. "life was like a box a chocolates, never know what you're gonna get", "Stupid is as stupid does" as well as memorabilia and photos from the movie. Marieann had a Chicken strip and Juliane had a Fish and Chips. Both girls ordered a halloween drink, Jack-O-Latern (HK$62). They get to keep the plastic cups which have flashing lights. lol. The adults shared a Calamari Rings (HK$80): deep fried calamari rings with red bell peppers and pepperoncinis and a Mama Blues Southern Fried Shrimp (HK$152): beer battered panko bread shrimps deep fried served with sauces and french fries. We were really full and had to cancel our dessert order of Lime Key Pie. :(

After dinner, we went up to the Sky Terrace for a unobstructed view of the Hong Kong nightsky. It was very WINDY and cold. I just hope the girls are warm enough. The view was not too bad but you can't see too far into the distance because of the perpetual smog/ smoke lingering in the city. We didn't stay very long at the Sky Terrace because it was just too windy to take, lol. We took a look around the shops at The Peak. By the time, we arrived at the bottom of The Peak, it was close to 9pm. We were really lucky to catch a cab as it strated to drizzle lightly.

The excitement over the past few days have finally caught up with the girls. They were fast asleep by 11pm+. :) Finally I can have some sleep too.
