Brussels Sprouts Again

The girls have been pestering us to go back to Brussels Sprouts because they really like the magic show lol. We decided to go back today. First, we went to Plaza Singapura to get some groceries from Carrefour before heading down to Brussels Sprouts for lunch.

The girls ordered Fish Bites with Fries and Salad ($9) which came with free flow of soft drink and a scoop of ice cream.


I had the Duck Confit with Kriek Beer and Griottes Cherries ($30). The duck was full of flavour and the meat just comes off the bone most easily. The duck confit was also pan fried until the skin was crisp and when paired with the cherries, it was marvellous. :) For dessert, I had Forest Fruit Crumble with Balsamic Scented Pear, Fruit Compote and Cinnamon Ice Cream ($12). The dessert was rather ordinary but the cinnamon ice cream was rather different.



The girls' father ordered Pasta Coquillage: Creamy Seafood ($24). The cream sauce was really nice. For dessert, he had Banana Crêpe with Butterscotch and Vanilla Ice Cream ($ 10) which was quite ordinary.



After our desserts, we were entertained by the magician, Jack. He remembered us from our last visit. He showed the girls some tricks which didn't fail to drop their jaws and bring out huge grins on their faces and on mine lol. :)

Magic Birthday Party

My family friend, whom I have known since young, came back to Singapore with his family from Melbourne. Since they are in Singapore, they took the opportunity to celebrate their daughter's birthday with family and friends. I guess I counted as both?! Haha.

We were the earliest to arrive at their place at 11:30am. It was okay as we took the time to catch up with his entire extended family (Friend's grandmother, parents, aunts and uncles as well as the cousins) whom I have known since I was a toddler. Haha. :P

The cousins' children and my children soon warmed up to each other and started to play with one another. I managed to take some photos of them. :) The children had lunch first with lots of delicious home-cooked food, such as baked macaroni, spring rolls, salad, kuah pie ti, glutinous rice, otak, mee siam and chicken satay. There were desserts too such as chocolate cupcakes and jellies for the kids. I always like getting invited to the family gatherings because of the delicious home-cooked food and the company. They are like my family. :)

After lunch, the Magic show started at 1pm. The children were most excited and attentive to the magician. :) I was seated right in front too, at the side. No, not because I wanted to be a part of Magic Show but that I needed to take the photos of the kids hahaha. Ok, I did participate in the show, sort of. The magician asked for a dollar note. I gave him a $10 after he promised to return it with interests lol. :P He turned my $10 into a $100!!! I was so happy, thought I struck it rich, hahaha. Alas, he turned it back to a $10. :( All the kids exclaimed with wonder with that trick and all the adults sighed with regret that the $100 was turned back into a $10. Hahaha. :P After the magic show, there was also a balloonist who twisted balloons into all kinds of things for the kids. Friend's wife also prepared lots of presents for the kids. Every kid was smiling most broadly after good food and show, after getting a balloon creation and getting presents.

We went home at 3pm with some of the party food haha. :)

Disney Mickey's Magic Show

Today, we brought the girls to see Disney Live! Mickey's Magic Show at the Indoor Stadium. We arrived about half an hour early before the show started at 11:30am as we didn't know how bad the crowd it was going to be. Better play safe to be earlier than late, lol.

Gosh, it was crowded. Lots of children with their parents. We entered through the North Entrance and once through the entrance, we were greeted in the face by booths selling the Disney and Mickey merchandise! Wah, these people really know who to sell their stuff. At least, we stood firm and refused to give in to the girls' demands. We were seated in the second section which was about 10 rows away from the stage but still near enough.

The girls, thank goodness, showed their enjoyment of the show with applause and claps and NOT screaming. They were actually staring at the ang moh kids seated behind them who were screaming into their ears, hahaha. Despite it being a kiddie show with Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy, and the various Disney Princesses: Snow White, Cinderella, Jasmine, Ariel, Belle, I actually enjoyed the magic show too. Maybe deep within, the child in me hasn't grown up at all! After all, I grew up with these Disney characters too (except the more recent ones like Jasmine, Belle and Ariel). :P The show sure brings back fond memories for me of my own childhood. =)

The show ended at 1pm. Not very sure where to eat around the Indoor Stadium, we went back to the city to our favourite mall, The Central. We went to Ma Maison, a Japanese Western restaurant. As the special lunch menu didn't suit us, the kitchen was very nice and made for us something from the dinner menu instead.

The girls had a Spaghetti with Seafood in Tomato Sauce ($15.90) to share. This dish was not even on the menu, the kitchen made it especially for the girls. A big plus point for the restaurant for service! The girls really enjoyed it.


I had from the dinner menu, Spaghetti with Seafood Cream Sauce ($15.90) which had mushroom, onion, cuttlefish, salmon and baby prawns. It was delicious, I really love the cream sauce. Sinful but good.


The girls' father ordered a lunch set: Omu-rice ($14.80) which was ketchup rice wrapped in omelette with brown sauce. His set came with salad, clam chowder soup and a drink. The omu-rice was quite nice, especially with the brown sauce.


Lunch was late but everyone enjoyed it.
