My 40" LCD TV

I collected my lucky draw prize, a Sony 40" LCD TV with the help of my colleague and a trolley! Lol. My jaws dropped when I saw how huge the 40" TV is. We wheeled the TV (most carefully! lol) back to our office first because my colleagues had wanted to see it. :) Everyone was thrilled and happy to see the TV. I loved my Boss's reaction, "Holy Smoke"! Hahaha. Believe it or not, we took photos together with my TV haha. :P

Many thanks to my colleague who gave me and my new TV a ride home. :) Once home, I started setting up the TV haha. My family was sitting around and watching me as if I was the entertainment. By 7pm, we were watching Transformers blue-ray disc on my new 40" LCD TV. What a difference it makes watching on a big screen!

Size really matters! Lol. :P

Prize Collection

More questions today from my colleagues and friends about my lucky draw prize:
"Have you collected your TV?"
"How's your new 40" TV?"
"Sony, must be good hor"

When they knew I have yet to collect it:
"How come you still don't want to collect your prize? A 40" tv leh!"
"You don't want it, is it? Then give to the office lah."
"If you don't want it, you want to sell to me?"

Haha. My dear friends and colleagues, I must thank all of you for your excitement about my prize. :) Just to let all of you know, I will be collecting my prize on Thursday lol. If you want, you can come over to my workstation to take a look at it, ok? Hahaha. :)

Lucky Draw Winner

Remember the 3rd prize that I won at the lucky draw held during my organisation's staff lunch? It's a Sony 40" LCD TV. How is it, you asked? Well, I don't know. The fact is I have not collected my prize yet! Hahaha. :P Ever since I won it on 27 February 2010, I have been asked by my colleagues almost on a daily basis if I have collected my TV and/ or how's my 40" TV lol. My colleagues are much more excited about my win than I am lol. I have also been told that no one from our department has ever won the top 5 prizes and I am really lucky lol. :P

Today, I received an email from the staff lunch organising committee asking me to collect my prize from their office by 12 March and to bring a trolley when collecting the TV as it is bulky! I guess my delay in collecting my prize stems from two reasons: 1) that the TV is bulky and I will need private transport to bring it home and 2) I have no idea where to put the TV at home. No matter where the TV ends up - in the living room, in my parents' room or in my room(! :P), we may have to rearrange some furniture. More work haha. We'll see. :)

"Lucky" and Lucky

Updated 2 March 9:46pm with more photos from colleagues. :)

Our institute is having its annual lunch (with a "Going to School" theme) today from 11am to 3:30pm at Orchard Hotel. I was there on the spot at 11am because I stay really close by lol. I qualified for the early bird door gift haha. :) There were 3 pre-lunch fun activities - glamour shot, fun button and tattooing. I was only interested in the photo shoot and fun button. I managed to get both done without the hassle of queueing up since I was early haha. :)

By 12noon, most of my table-mates have arrived and we were seated at Table 10, which is my lucky number lol. For once, all 10 of us were able to make it, again my lucky number lol. The director gave his speech, followed by the presentation of long service awards and buffet lunch! :) After lunch, there were some activities. I was "lucky" and got sabotaged by my table-mates to be the "class rep" for the first fun activity. I, like 72 other "class reps", had to stand on my chair and provided much laughter to my table-mates as I had to do things like put coins into my ears, tie a napkin round my forehead, wear 3 men's belts, etc. I have to admit, it was quite a funny experience haha. However, we didn't win this activity as we didn't have some of the items required by the emcee lol. There were also performances and one of the performances was actually a repeat of the performance at 2007 staff dinner. Those who were at the 2007 dinner immediately remembered it and started gesturing to me. Why? Because I was "invited" on stage for the same performance back in 2007 lol. Yes, I tend to be very "lucky" like that lol. :P

After the performances, came the highlight of the lunch - the lucky draw!! Hahaha. It was the draw for the top 10 prizes, starting with the 10th prize first. Most of us stayed till the end of the lunch for this moment lol. As it got closer to the top 3 prizes, I was thinking to myself it was okay not to have won anything as I really enjoyed myself this year with the great company. When all of sudden, I heard my name being announced! WHAT?! I had won the 3rd prize, a Sony 40" LCD TV!!! Goodness me!! :) :) :) My colleagues were happy for me too and clapped really hard, especially those from my Table 10 as I went on stage to collect my prize from the director. Told you, 10 is my lucky number haha. :)

3 beauties queueing for food haha :P

Still eating my dessert even though being sabo-ed and standing on the chair for the activity haha
Ok, what else you want me to do? Bring it on! Haha

Listening attentively, one of us might be the next lucky draw winner! OH, that's me!! haha :P

Photos with friends and colleagues :)

Final group photos before "school" is dismissed

More photos with friends and colleagues before we parted ways :)

I had lots of fun at the staff lunch because of the great company. It was an excellent time to catch up with one another, out of the office environment where everyone could let down their hair and just have fun. :) Ok ok, I also enjoyed the lunch because I won a prize!! Hahaha. :P

Lucky Pennies

I have been very lucky when I was in the USA. I don't know if it is related to the pennies I have been picking up lol. :P

Since my first day of arrival, I have almost been picking up a penny a day. :) Sometimes right there on the pavement, sometimes in the fitting rooms of stores, sometimes just in the oddest places, like once on the seat of a roller coaster ride lol. Somehow, I tend to find the penny even though I am not looking for it because I would accidentally step on it. It was as if the penny wanted to be found by me haha. :) Don't know why but I would be very happy to find the penny and would always without fail pick it up. :) I have been putting those pennies I found aside. :) It has been an old habit of mine lol. You see, I have always been lucky in finding coins/ picking up coins. So far, the largest amount I have found is a $10 note (ok, that's not a coin lol). But for that one, I donated it to charity. :)

I didn't know a lot about lucky pennies but since young, I always have this belief that if I found a coin, it must be lucky and I will keep it aside until I decided it was time for it to go. Call me strange if you like but it was my belief and it still is lol. While browsing, I found this website about The Lucky Penny. Hmm, so it isn't so strange of me after all to think of found coins as lucky! :)
