After sitting for close to ten hours each day while working on my revision for the past two days, my right knee finally "snapped". :(
As I was packing up my notebook for bed, my knee gave way. The kneecap seemed to be in a awkward angle and I could hardly straightened my knee. It really hurt! :(

Pain in the
Knee! Where do you think it would be?! Lol. Started getting pain in my right knee again. :( The last time that happened was in late 2007 and I had no idea how I injured my knee then. Anyway, my right knee started getting creaky just a few days ago but I didn't think much of it. However last night it turned for the worse. I was chasing after my kid and I twisted my knee. Oh boy! The pain was just excruciating! Immediately, my knee started swelling and became very stiff and I had to walk with a slight limp. :(
I should have known when my knee started getting creaky that I would be susceptible to injury. I was taking glucosamine after my knee injury in 2007 and never had pain again. However, I stopped taking it after I finished my last bottle of glucosamine early in the year. Looks like I have to start taking it again and make sure I don't stop. Like a good friend said, "Sista, you have to take it until you die lah". Haha. :P

Unwell Physically
I guess the emotional stress over the enbloc (for the past 2 days) has finally taken its toll on me.
Woke up this morning with my throat feeling sore. Thought it might go away as the day progressed and if I drank enough water. Only ended up going to the bathroom very frequently, lol but throat still feels sore :(
In the morning, a good friend from work, who read my previous blog post, msn-ed me telling me to take care of my own health and not to be so stressed out. Thanks, good friend for your concern. But too late, unwell liao. Lol. Ok, still got my sense of humour so I am not that sick. Lol.
In the late afternoon, the sore throat didn't seem to be getting better on its own. Ok, time to see my Uncle doctor. I was given Serrazyme (which is an alternative to salicylates) for the pain, lozenges for the sore throat and Vitamin C to build up my immune system. I have to admit, because of my stress over the enbloc, I have neglected to take my supplements. Opps! :P But now with medication, I should be alright by tomorrow and yes, I will start taking my supplements again.
I also asked my Uncle about my knee which would occasionally "click" when I stood up after sitting down for long periods of time. He said it was possible my knee might not have healed properly yet and the pain might still return. He told me to AVOID stairs. Oh dear. Thought the worst is over for my knee. Now, I still need to be careful, sigh.
Ok, I am going to take my shower, my dinner, my medication and then curl up in bed with a good book, Reliquary by Preston & Child. Lol.

Busted Knee II
Never realised a busted knee would result in an old friend of mine contacting me from Perth, Australia. Lol. This is the wonder of technology and blogs. Hahaha.
Thanks, Colin for your comments. It is really nice to hear from you! No lah, I am not still complaining about the aspirin you gave me after so many years. Hahaha. But you must admit, it is quite funny when we both look back at that incident now. =)
My knee is getting better. Sometimes, the pain is still there but it is definitely more bearable now than a few days ago. Sometimes, I would forget myself and walk too fast. Or like today, I ended up with the wrong foot on the steps and I jumped down the step so to avoid the pain from the bending of my busted knee. That action of mine drew a horrified gasp and shaking of his head from a good friend who didn't know what to say to me. Lol, :P Ok lah, I should be more careful while my knee is trying to heal and not do funny things like jumping down the steps. Promise.
So my knee is getting better. Thank you, my Friends, for all your concerns.

Family Outing to the ...
DOCTOR'S! Lol. Yup, you didn't read wrongly. Lol. :P
Juliane has a bad cough with running nose, Marieann has a stuffy nose, hubby's throat feels funny and of course, I have my busted knee. We were at the doctor's in the morning. He is my family doctor as well as an old family friend so I call him "Dr Tan Uncle". Uncle was really surprised to see all of us, "Wah, family outing, huh?". Hahaha. Juliane and Marieann both have the same thing - a cold and hubby is just starting to have a sore throat. As for me, I am all healthy except for the knee. Must be all that multi-vitamins, fish oil and what-not supplements I have been taking since knowing I am pre-diabetic. :P A blessing in disguise, huh? Lol.
As for my knee, it is neither arthritis (e.g. gout, rheumatoid arthritis) nor torn ligaments/ muscles/ tendons. THANK GOODNESS. Hahaha. Uncle was bending, twisting, and turning my right knee to diagnose what was wrong. It seemed my knee cartilage on the underside of my knee cap is inflamed. This is mostly likely due to trauma. Well, I did have a really big bruise just above my knee cap but I couldn't remember how I got it.
Anyway, I was prescribed anti-inflammatory medications and a Voltaren Emulgel to apply to my knee. Uncle took a long time before prescribing me the medications because he has to make sure non of them contain aspirin, panadol, amoxicillin, and salicylate because they would give me anaphylaxis (the most severe type of allergic reaction, I usually react within 30-60 minutes of exposure. Ain't I just so "lucky"? :P). Thus, he often has a big headache prescribing me medication. Lol. :P I also have to wear my knee guard for a week. I was also told to avoid walking up and down stairs and to have rest. Oh dear, my work place is full of stairs!! Hmm... maybe work from home for next week. :P

My knee seemed to be feeling much better now after the medications. But I am still walking very slowly and with a slight limp. Don't want to overwork it.

Busted Knee
This morning, I was dashing around trying to get the older girl ready for kindergarten because the school bus was already waiting at the lobby for her. But in her communication book, it said "Centre closed for half day (7am - 2pm)". Naturally, I understood it as the kindergarten was closed for half a day, the morning half. They need to communicate better. Anyway, while dashing around, I must have turned my right knee in an awkward way. The next moment I know was my right knee hurts when I walked. Every step on my right leg was "Ouch, ouch, ouch".
Darn. I have busted my right knee and it is my good knee too. I had busted my left knee years ago in Secondary 4. I had injured it while taking part in my school's sports day - high jump competition. I must had been practised too hard days before and then twisted my knee at the competition itself. My left knee was swollen for days. That was the end of my high jump "career", lol. My best jump was 150cm and I am only 156cm. :) Oh dear, I have digressed. :P
Anyway, I knew I had busted my right knee because the pain was just too similar and painful! Sigh. However, there was no time to see a doctor as I had to go to work. Visit to a doctor would have to be later. Or maybe I was also secretly wishing that my knee would get better as the day proceeded. I had to walk really, really slowly and I am NOT used to it. By afternoon, it had simply become very painful for me to walk. There were (still are) sometimes sharp pains which would just stopped me in my tracks completely. Sometimes, getting off a chair and sitting down would also result in me drawing in sharp intakes of breath.
A kind-hearted good friend could no longer watch me in agony and drove me to a pharmacy to get a knee guard. At least, it would help to some extent. And it did! The pain was not as bad as the knee guard helped to support my knee. Thank you, Good Friend. And also to my other good friends at work for their care and concerns, and some, I believed, were also grimacing along with me, whenever I felt pain in my knee. Lol. :P
I will go see a doctor first thing tomorrow morning.
PS. Not sure if it has any bearing on my knee injury. Until two days ago, my right knee was making this "click" noise whenever I walked (for at least two days). Hmm, maybe my right knee was already giving way then.
