Swell!

Remember I had my second dose of chicken pox vaccination on Wednesday? Well, the area where the shot was given is still swollen, red and sore after 48 hours. :( Afraid that there might be more serious side-effect(s), I called up my family doctor this morning to inquire. 
From my description, it seemed that the other doctor might not have injected the vaccine in the right place, thus causing the swelling and soreness. But the vaccine still got into my system but at a slower rate. My family doctor said the swelling would eventually go down. As long as there are no serious side-effects, I am relieved. But I know I won't be returning to see the other doctor again.

Ouch!

I returned for my second dose of my chicken pox vaccination today. As my family doctor was busy conducting a medical examination, I saw the other elderly doctor who works part-time at the clinic. I was reluctant to do so but I was pressed for time as I needed to get to school for counselling before 10am. I wished that I had waited! :( 
After mixing the vaccine, that doctor did not change the needle into a finer needle which my family doctor did for my first dose of chicken pox vaccination. It was so painful when the needle went in and it also bled after the needle was withdrawn. Ouch!
Now the area where the injection was given is sore, red and swollen. That didn't happen with my first dose of chicken pox vaccination. :( I hope the soreness, redness and swelling goes down by tomorrow. 

Vaccinated

As there is no counselling today, I went to the clinic to get my chicken pox vaccination. According to my family doctor, as I was with my friend during her most infectious period so it might actually be a little late for me to be totally protected by the vaccination as two doses (8 weeks apart) are needed. But at the very least, if I do contract chicken pox, the symptoms might not be as severe... My family doctor said if I do not develop any symptoms by 14 September, I am safe. CROSSING MY FINGERS!

PS. Ouch! I hate injections. :(
