It is one year since the earthquake and tsunami happened in Japan on 11 March 2011. It was the day we were supposed to leave for Tokyo for our family trip. We were lucky.
The Japanese are in the midst of rebuilding their lives after the disaster. I wish them courage and hope.
making it easier to keep in touch with family and friends

Glimmer of Hope
Remember the bad news I received last week? I am beginning to see glimmer of hope for both matters after having a talk with close friends. Dear friends, don't worry. I will press on with both matters no matter how daunting it seems.

Favourite CNY Decor
My favourite CNY decor is not at any of the shopping malls (not that I have visited that many malls haha) but the one at Botanic Gardens Visitor Centre, Tanglin Gate.
I am pretty sure there is an official name for it by BG but I personally like to call it, The Tree of Hope. It is a tree with paper cranes of red and yellow hanging down from the branches. I think there should be a 1000 paper cranes hanging from the tree. It is a simple idea but very unique and symbolises the new hope and wish for the Chinese New Year just as well as the usual Chinese Zodiac sign of the year, which is the Ox for 2009.

I guess this CNY decor is special to me because I once folded a 1000 paper cranes (using 5cm by 5cm size paper) by myself. For someone who is impatient, I am still suprised that I had the patience and determination to fold 1000 small paper cranes. The cranes are still somewhere in Australia lol. It was a very special memory and moment for me. :)

Hope
Have you ever felt so tired of doing a certain thing that you want to just give up?
I have. Sometimes, I feel so much despair that I feel like giving up, throwing in the towel, calling it a day... you get the picture. But no matter how much I feel like giving up, I just couldn't do it. Somehow, something deep within me just simply refuses to give in, to give up... ... ...
because there deep within me still lingers the shimmers of hope.
"When the heart is enlivened again, it feels like the sun coming out after a week of rainy days. There is hope in the heart that chases the clouds away. Hope is a higher heart frequency and as you begin to reconnect with your heart, hope is waiting to show you new possibilities and arrest the downward spiral of grief and loneliness. It becomes a matter of how soon you want the sun to shine. Listening to the still, small voice in your heart will make hope into a reality. - Sara Paddison"
