All Things Japanese

* Japanese Dinner
Tonight, we had dinner with Juliane's Kai Ye, Anthony as he would be going back to UK on Saturday. Our mutual friend, Kuan Ling joined us for dinner at Sun with Moon Japanese restaurant, Wheelock Place.

Although the girls had their dinner first at home (as we met for dinner at 8:15pm), they ordered an ala carte terriyaki chicken to share. Their father ordered a Kurobuto Don (on the special menu at the moment) which is grilled pork belly on rice topped with soft boiled egg. Although it looked good, the girls' father thought it wasn't really very special.

I ordered a Hokkai Kamameshi ($26.80): Hokkai Mixed Seafood hot pot which came with unagi, salmon, prawn, scallop, crab meat. The rice was most fragrant which had pieces of mushroom, pickles, seaweed mixed into it. I enjoyed my dinner!

We ordered desserts to share with the girls: Green Tea Parfait ($8.80) and Dessert Box ($8.80). The Green Tea Parfait has green tea ice cream, green tea jelly cubes and cornflakes in alternate layers and topped with mochi and red bean paste. The girls loved it, especially the ice cream and mochi.

My Dessert Box is a selection of 4 desserts (mini): raisin ice cream, black sesame pudding, jelly in soda and mochi with red bean paste. The black sesame pudding was very smooth and fragrant. The raisin ice cream was different from the usual raisin ice cream which was usually rum and raisin. The girls finished all the desserts except the sesame pudding. I think they were put off by the black layer of sesame, hahaha.

* Isetan Private Sale
Today, I went to the private sale. Remember that pair of shoes which I really like and it is the only pair in Size 36? Well, I managed to get it and 30% off. I was really lucky! :) For this sale, I bought 2 pairs of shoes, the first time ever I bought 2 pairs of shoes at one go, lol. Being able to shop and being able to get great bargains, sure put me in a good mood today. Yes, until the bill comes, hahaha. :P

Happy 4th Birthday, Juliane!

Dear Juliane,

Happy 4th Birthday. Wishing you lots of love, hugs and lollies. :)

love,
Mummy, Papa, Jie Jie, Ah Ma, Ah Gong, Uncle and Aunty and cousins in UK.

Today is Juliane's 4th birthday. As I had Staff Lunch and Party (more about it in another post) until mid afternoon, we celebrated her birthday in the evening over dinner. Her Kai Ye, Anthony happened to be back for work again and it was great that he could join us for dinner. Juliane was definitely thrilled to see her Kai Ye. Anthony brought us to have dinner at this new and delightful cafe, Cafe Fahrenheit (more about this cafe in another post). Dinner was wonderful: the food was great and the company was excellent. Juliane interacted with her Kai Ye a lot more this time. She totally skipped the intial shy, shy stage with her Kai Ye. Maybe she is in a good mood as it is her birthday?? Lol. When we sent Anthony back to the hotel, Juliane's Kai Ma, Ivy called from England. Juliane again wasn't shy at all and spoke to her Kai Ma for a while. After the call, she started chanting "Kai Ma" in a song-like manner, lol. I think she is high on all the sugar from the desserts, hahaha. We have made plans to meet with Anthony again next weekend. :)

When we arrived home, we had a mini birthday celebation. I bought a Mixed Fruits cake for Juliane. She was most happy to sing the Happy Birthday song to herself and blowing out the candles on her cake again. She loved cutting her own cake which she was able to do without help. She served her Ah Ma the first piece of birthday cake. Good girl! :) As it is her birthday, we allowed her to sleep slightly later and so that she could eat her cake too. She finished her cake, cleaned up and went to bed at 10pm. By 10:30pm, she was fast asleep. :) I think she had a great day today.

PS. Her Uncle in UK called in the late afternoon to wish Juliane Happy Birthday. Her younger cousin, Matthew sang her a Happy Birthday song too. Her Uncle, Aunty and cousins had sent Juliane's and Marieann's birthday presents from UK earlier in the week. The girls were thrilled with their presents and cards. Thank you, YM.

Guess Who's in Town?

No, not Santa, lol. It's Juliane's Kai Ye. Well, he is almost like Santa to Juliane and Marieann. Every time he is back in Singapore, he would bear the girls gifts from him and his wife, Juliane's Kai Ma. This trip is no exception. The dresses are most lovely and just nice for Chinese New Year! In addition, they have their CNY ang baos in advance! Thank you so much, Anthony and Ivy. It is really very kind and nice of you guys. But next trip, no more gifts for them, ok? You two are spoiling them, lol.

We went to our favourite dim sum place for lunch, where else but East Ocean Teochew Restaurant, lol. We met up with Kuan Ling and Anthony at 1pm for lunch as Anthony had to settle some things first in the morning. We had a nice lunch as we were able to eat and chat away without not being chased away as it would have been the case if we had lunch earlier, lol.

After we parted ways, we shopped for a while at Isetan supermarket because there is now a Hokkaido & Michinoku Fair on. We bought Hokkaido Sweets: Kushi Dango Rice Cakes and Gelato. The girls had their Strawberry and Blueberry gelato while the parents shared a cream cheese gelato. The cream cheese gelato is really nice. It was creamy like milk and didn't taste too sweet nor was it too cheesy which I think would have tasted strange for the gelato, lol.

Before we headed home, we went to collect my manhwa from Bras Brasah Complex. There were 14 issues waiting for me, lol. By the time, we arrived home, it was 4pm and the girls were...

in Sandman's world, lol.

"I see Kai Ye!"

That was what Juliane said to me today after she saw her Godfather and she added, "But where Kai Ma and Kor Kor?". Her Godfather, Anthony is only back in Singapore for a week (for work) while her Godmother, Ivy and Kor Kor, Malcolm remain in England.

Juliane and Kai Ye

We met up with Juliane's Godfather (Anthony), and friends: Kuan Ling, Elizabeth (who is back from Perth) and Kim. We had lunch at our favourite Dim Sum restaurant, East Ocean at Shaw Centre. This place is always crowded, especially during weekends, even with reservation, we had to wait between 15 to 30 minutes. But the dim sum here is really good, so it's well-worth the wait. So, as usual, lunch was yummy and good! =)

When are you coming back to Singapore next, Anothony, Ivy and Malcolm?! Hope it is soon! It has been kind of boring for us, without you guys, our usual dim sum kaki. I'm sure Kuan Ling would agree too. :) Let's meet up again soon.

PS. Anthony and Ivy: Thanks for the lovely presents for the girls. They can't wait to put on their new clothes. We'll send you their photos. They absolutely love the handbags! Great timing too, as we just told them yesterday we will get handbags for them. Thanks again. See you soon!
