Wishing all who celebrates a Happy Winter Solstice 2017! 

I woke up early to cook tangyuan for my kids. I am not my mother so I bought the tangyuan packets from supermarket rather than make them from scratch as my mother would. :P

Happy Dong Zhi 2013 or Happy Winter Solstice Festival 2013! :)

We cooked small coloured glutinous rice balls and the larger red-bean stuffed ones in brown sugar soup (as seen in the photo). It was really nice eating the steaming hot glutinous rice balls in brown sugar soup on a cool night. :) 
Dong Zhi is a time for families to get together and tangyuan ((湯圓) or glutinuous rice balls which symbolise reunion, are eaten. :) After Dong Zhi, there will be days with longer daylight hours and therefore an increase in positive energy flowing in.

21.12.2012 is Winter Solstice. The Chinese celebrates Winter Solstice Festival or 冬至 (Dong Zhi) today by making and eating Tang yuan (湯圓) or balls of glutinous rice, which symbolise reunion. As my mother is not around to make the tang yuan, I bought the frozen ones and cooked them for the girls to eat. :)
21.12.2012 is also Doomsday, according to the prediction of Ancient Mayans.The last time I checked, life still goes on as usual. :)
