New Year's Eve Dinner

I was supposed to put up this post before the New Year greetings post but was too full to do anything, lol. Anyway, here is it now, a day later. :)

We had our New Year's Eve dinner at Carousel, Royal Plaza on Scotts Hotel. It was $88 per adult and $50 per child (5 - 12 years old). We arrived around 7:05pm. The girls were really excited with the party hats, the party masks, etc. I think those things attracted their attention more than the food whereas I was more interested in taking photos of the food, hahaha.

There were Salad bar, Sushi bar (sushi, sashimi, cold soba, chawanmushi), Seafood counter (lobsters, spanner crabs, crayfish, mussels, scallops, oysters, etc), Asian buffet counter (Chinese, Malay, and Thai dishes), Western buffet counter, Pasta counter, Roast counter (turkey, beef, roasted potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, roasted carrots, etc) and the indulgent dessert counter (cakes, puddings, chocolate fondue, fruits, ice cream, etc). Some highlights of the buffet, lol.

We took our time having dinner. For once, the girls were really cooperative and let us eat in peace, lol. I think, like me, they were also most fascinated with the dessert counter, lol. But we put our foot down, they have got to have hot food first before having their desserts. Here are some of the delicious food that I had.

The seafood was succulent, tender and fresh! They were tasty on their own without the need of any sauces.

Mediterranean Seafood Broth (on the left) and Crab Bisque (on the right). I preferred the bisque, it's more tasty and aromatic.

The various salad and cold cuts: foie gras, shrimp salad, mussel salad, etc.

Western: roast turkey, Yorkshire pudding, various roasted vegetables, seafood in garlic sauce, etc.

Asian: slipper lobster in black pepper sauce, duck in green curry, scallops and asparagus in XO sauce, braised shark's fin soup.

Desserts: various cakes and puddings (chocolate pudding, bread & butter pudding, pineapple crumble, crepe, etc). Most sinfully sweet. :P

Before, during and after the dinner, we managed to take some photos on this last day of 2007.

We finished dinner around 10:30pm and we went for a drive along Orchard Road for the girls to see the fairy light decorations. The girls were pretty enthralled with all the pretty lights. Unfortunately, I couldn't get good photos of the fairy lights from within the moving car. :P Maybe before they take the lights down, I should walk along Orchard Road to get the best photos, lol.
